Steven Guo launched his first business when he was 12 — "basically by accident," he says. In 2022, Guo sold one of his first businesses, a jewelry brand that brought in over $2 million in revenue within a year. The 24-year-old now owns and runs several e-commerce ventures set to bring in a combined $1.7 million this year. "By combining these two interests and making a really unique car cover, we can appeal to a much more passionate audience." "One thing that I wish I knew earlier about running a business is that the product isn't necessarily everything," he says.

It all started with a summer project when he was 12 and "super into the game Minecraft," Guo tells CNBC Make It. He recently moved from Southern California to Bali, Indonesia, where he splits a villa with friends and spends his free time surfing. The expense is well worth it for high-quality food, Guo says: "One of the best parts about Bali is how clean and healthy the food is. "Most of my expenses go towards food, but if I do spend money, it's typically towards gifts for family or my girlfriend." As far as what he doesn't spend on, "I absolutely refuse to spend money on things that depreciate in value," like luxury goods, Guo says.

CNN —Incendiary devices that ignited in Germany and the United Kingdom in July were part of a covert Russian operation that aimed to start fires aboard cargo and passenger flights heading to the US and Canada, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported Monday, citing Western security officials. In July, device explosions at DHL logistics hubs in Leipzig, Germany, and Birmingham, UK, kickstarted a race to find the suspects, WSJ reported. When the WSJ asked Russia for comment about the suspected Russian plot, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov denied the allegations. “We have never heard any official accusations” of Russian involvement, adding: “These are traditional unsubstantiated insinuations from the media.”” He said according to WSJ. It was dealt with by staff and the local fire brigade at the time and there were no reports of any injuries or significant damage caused,” the spokesperson said.

The expectation is that in this way, Vera Rubin will discover about 17 billion stars and 20 billion galaxies that we’ve never seen before — and that’s only the beginning. “We’re anticipating about 10 million alerts per night coming off the telescope,” Higgs says. “The Vera Rubin Observatory will enable astronomers to map the distribution of dark matter like never before, based on how dark matter bends the path of ordinary starlight — a process known as ‘gravitational lensing,’” Kaiser explains. “After all, it was her seminal work on the detection of dark matter in spiral galaxies in the 1970s that got this pursuit going,” says Natarajan.

Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) are also among firms seeing sales and market share vanish in China as local consumers spurn overseas brands to buy Chinese instead. The American automaker’s sales in China have halved from a peak of above 4 million in 2017 to 2.1 million last year. Last year, BYD sold a record 3.02 million vehicles globally, including plug-in hybrids, up 62% from 2022. Rolex’s Perpetual Planet Initiative has partnered with CNN to drive awareness and education around key sustainability issues and to inspire positive action. The slender horns of the Arabian oryx, also known as the “white oryx” because of its luminous white coat, are said to be an inspiration for tales of the mythical unicorn. This kickstarted conservation efforts, which involved breeding the species in captivity and reintroducing it into the wild. Today, there are an estimated 1,220 Arabian oryxes in the wild and 6,000 to 7,000 in captivity, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

CNN —There will be no last hurrah for Andy Murray at Wimbledon after his playing partner and fellow Briton, Emma Raducanu, withdrew from the mixed doubles event. “I’m disappointed as I was really looking forward to playing with Andy but got to take care,” the 21-year-old Raducanu said in a statement. Murray made his first Wimbledon singles final in 2012 where he lost to Roger Federer – a defeat which moved the British star to tears and somewhat changed the public’s perception of him.

Tuesday’s election results, in which Prime Minister Modi sealed a rare third term, only enhance the sense of gloom and doom for Indian Muslims like me. With the BJP back in power – albeit without the supermajority it had vowed – my only hope lies in a politically weakened Modi now. A weakened Modi shall, hopefully, translate into a more robust India and more secure minorities. In the days and months to come, things could get seriously tough for Indian Muslims. It could be the norm for the rest of India soon as the BJP tries to deny Indian Muslims the right to follow Islamic laws in civil matters, a right granted by the Indian Constitution.
