Tema ETFs' Yuri Khodjamirian is keeping a close watch on chip designer Qualcomm Inc . As AI shifts from data centers — an Nvidia "stronghold" — to the " edge ," investors should "start looking at companies like Qualcomm," Khodjamirian said. And "edge AI" is more than about chips — "it's really everything, the silicon content of our mobile phones and PCs, has to go up, because you need better memory; you need better connectivity between the different semiconductors. Qualcomm's shares are currently trading at around 15.3 times forward earnings, while Nvidia has a multiple of around 38, according to FactSet data. 'Emerging Edge AI play' Analysts at KeyBanc Capital Markets are bullish on Qualcomm and have a target price of $225 on the stock, or 55.8% upside.

Apple 's high stakes September launch event left some Wall Street analysts feeling unsettled. The largest company in the U.S. announced a host of new products Monday at its California headquarters, including a new Apple Watch, AirPods and the highly anticipated iPhone 16 that harnesses AI tools called Apple Intelligence. The delayed AI launch also creates uncertainty for sales volumes over the next two quarters, Long added. UBS analyst David Vogt viewed the event as "anticlimactic," adding that Apple offered no "killer" AI application. Elsewhere, Piper Sandler's Matt Farrell reiterated his neutral rating and $225 price target, noting that a slow rollout of Apple Intelligence could actually hamper enthusiasm for the features.

Among the offers at AT & T for new and existing customers: a free iPhone 16 or up to $830 off the iPhone 16 Plus if they meet a few eligibility requirements. Apple's list price for the Phone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus start at $799 and $899, respectively. Now consider that despite inflation, Apple left the prices of iPhone 16 models the same as the prior generation while adding AI capabilities and improved battery life, among others. "All of these things will be incremental, just enough to eventually convince millions" to upgrade their devices, Jim said. US Steel and Nippon Steel both indicated in statements that they’re open to legal fights to get the deal approved, no matter what actions is announced by Biden. Shares of US Steel (X) closed down 17.5% on the news at $29.37, well below the $55 a share that Nippon Steel agreed to pay for the stock back in December when the deal was announced. US Steel said the future of this and other union-represented plants at the company are at risk unless it gets approval to be purchased by Nippon Steel. US Steel says it has more than 3,000 employees in the state in its remaining steel mills along the Monongahela River just outside of Pittsburgh. The union says it doesn’t believe in the promises made by Nippon Steel so far and that it remains opposed to the purchase.

In fiscal 2022 and 2023 combined, Disney's experiences unit, which houses the parks, generated 67.5% of the company's operating income. That represents a significant deceleration in growth from its first and second quarters, when operating income rose 8% and 12%, respectively. Nispel argued that negative sentiment around Disney's theme parks performance could be a reason to have less conviction on the stock in the near term. The more excitement around its movies, the more interest in everything from theme parks to streaming services to branded merchandise. Operating income, in particular, rose more than $350 million year over year to $254 million.
