Read previewThe judge overseeing Rudy Giuliani's bankruptcy granted him a rare legal win. But there's a catch: Giuliani isn't allowed to file for bankruptcy again over the next 12 months. AdvertisementOver the past few months, Giuliani has filed inconsistent financial statements and appeared to squirrel away streams of income, his creditors have complained. AdvertisementThe draft order provided by Giuliani's legal team included a line that would forbid the 80-year-old from filing for bankruptcy again for one year. But the legal team representing the so-called "unsecured creditors" — including Dominion Voting Systems and Dunphy — objected to dismissing the bankruptcy case.

Health care and social assistance were the top sector for job gains — a common theme in recent years — adding 81,300 jobs. The U.S. labor market surprised economists with its strength once again, adding more than 300,000 jobs in March, with a few key sectors continuing to fuel its growth. Within health care, ambulatory services and hospitals combined to add 55,000 jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The Bureau of Labor Statistics noted that the labor force participation has changed little in the past year despite consistent upside surprises for job gains. It's been the key to rebalancing the labor market.

The U.S. national debt is sitting at nearly $33 trillion dollars. "The public debt has always been used for emergencies. The national debt increased by more than 89% since the beginning of the pandemic, with many top economists in agreement that 2020 was not the time to worry about the debt. Servicing the debt can become difficult when interest rates are higher. The Federal Reserve has been increasing interest rates since March 2022 with the goal of slowing down economic activity.

The woman, Noelle Dunphy, filed a lawsuit in May claiming that Mr. Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, began harassing and assaulting her shortly after he hired her in January 2019. Mr. Giuliani has responded that Ms. Dunphy was never his employee and that the two had a consensual relationship. Ms. Dunphy said in her lawsuit that she had audio recordings that supported her claims. In the transcripts filed on Tuesday by Ms. Dunphy’s lawyer, Justin T. Kelton, Mr. Giuliani uses a homophobic slur, makes disparaging remarks about Jews and women and uses sexually explicit language in conversation with Ms. Dunphy. In one excerpt, he complains that the Jewish people continue to celebrate the ancient holiday of Passover.

A spokesperson for the hedge fund declined further comment on Thursday. Big banks typically agree terms with hedge funds that allow them to cut ties at short notice, five sources from prime brokerages and hedge funds told Reuters. Prime brokerages may now refine due diligence processes and perform more thorough background checks on hedge funds, said Jim Neumann, chief investment officer of Sussex Partners, which advises investors on how they give their money to hedge funds. But many of these agreements mainly focus on the financial viability of the hedge fund, two of the sources said. One hedge fund manager said he was asked in his due diligence with the bank if he was approved by the UK regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority.

Rudy Giuliani asked a judge to toss parts of the sex-abuse lawsuit against him. Giuliani also denied selling pardons for Trump and making discriminatory remarks. Those claims, Giuliani said, are either false or don't bolster Dunphy's underlying claims that he sexually assaulted her. According to Dunphy's lawsuit, Giuliani behaved the same way in his apartment with her and then forced her to give him oral sex. Noelle Dunphy's lawsuit includes allegations of sexual abuse, using Rudy Giuliani's presence in the "Borat" sequel as a reference point.

Rudy Giuliani has been hit with a bombshell lawsuit by a former staffer who alleges he raped and abused her. Giuliani demanded that she give him oral sex as he took speakerphone calls from then-president Trump, she alleges. "He often demanded oral sex while he took phone calls on speaker phone from high-profile friends and clients, including then-President Trump," ex-staffer Noelle Dunphy claims in the 70-page lawsuit filed Monday. Giuliani told her that he and Trump "would split" the fee, the lawsuit alleges. We are proud to support Ms. Dunphy in her brave pursuit of this matter."
The regulator announced a nearly $279 million award to a whistleblower on May 5, more than double the previous record of $114 million awarded in October 2020. When whistleblower information leads to settlements, tipsters can earn between 10 and 30 percent of the financial penalties paid by wrongdoers. When whistleblower information leads to settlements, the tipsters can earn a percentage of the financial penalties paid by wrongdoers. The tipster's law firm, Kirby McInerney, worked with state authorities on the investigation after "Tooley's" lawsuit was filed. This means tax-fraud whistleblowers will increasingly look for ways to bring their tips to New York law enforcement to be more involved in the investigation process.

Social media, content creation, and lucrative branding deals offer a new path to fame and fortune. Top agents and managers working with athletes on content said it can be tricky to balance with training. Chasing content deals can be a distraction from the sport, and the industry-wide layoffs across tech companies from Twitter to Meta to Amazon mean that opportunities for influencer revenue are facing a slowdown. Fresno State basketball stars Haley and Hanna Cavinder, for instance, have a number of lucrative brand deals under their belts. A lot more athletes may not get deals if they don't have content creation, social media followings, or brand building."
