CNN —Calgary Flames assistant general manager Chris Snow died on Saturday following his battle with ALS, his wife Kelsie Snow announced. “The National Hockey League family is deeply saddened by the passing of Calgary Flames Assistant General Manager Chris Snow, a remarkable man whose courageous and relentless battle with ALS has been an inspiration to so many,” NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said in a statement. Prior to his time with the Flames, Snow was a sports reporter for the Boston Globe, where he covered the Boston Red Sox, and the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, where he covered the Minnesota Wild. Following his time as a journalist, Snow worked as a director of hockey operations for the Wild from 2006 through 2010. He is survived by his wife Kelsie, his son Cohen, and his daughter Willa.

NEW YORK, July 5 (Reuters) - Family-owned food giant Mars Inc on Wednesday agreed to buy Kevin's Natural Foods, which is known for its sous-vide meals, sauces, and side dishes, the companies said. McLean, Virginia-based Mars, which generates about $48 billion in annual sales, has three major businesses - Mars Petcare, Mars Snacking, and Mars Food & Nutrition. After the deal is completed, Kevin's will operate as a standalone brand under the food and nutrition unit. Mars plans to grow its food business through more potential acquisitions in the near term, said Shaid Shah, global president at Mars Food & Nutrition. McCray launched Kevin's after he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder, as he wanted to build a food brand that focused on healthy diets.

Kelsie Platt is suing FedEx, Goodyear, and more for the death of her husband Hamilton. Platt alleges faulty tires were the cause of the fatal accident. Hamilton Platt, 32, died after he slammed into a FedEx truck that had blown a tire on Interstate 10 Sept. 21. According to local news, Kelsie Platt's lawsuit alleges FedEx's faulty retread tires caused the fatal accident. Although neither FedEx nor Goodyear immediately responded to Insider's request for comment on the suit, FedEx provided a statement to local news outlets.
A rural Wyoming ranch accused of subjecting troubled girls to forced labor and humiliating punishments has notified state regulators it halted operations. Trinity Teen Solutions informed the Wyoming Department of Family Services, which licenses the ranch, that it stopped providing services and enrolling new teens on Sept. 28, officials said. Trinity Teen Solutions’ website remains active, but its Facebook and Twitter accounts were deleted in the past several weeks.
