Kelly Vaillancourt Strobach, director of policy and advocacy at the National Association of School Psychologists, said mental-health coordination programs such as Care Solace aren’t as good as having people in a school building who can provide on-the-spot help. She said that while Nevada is trying to improve, it has “one of the worst shortages of school psychologists, school counselors, school social workers in the country.” A spokeswoman for the Nevada Department of Education declined to comment.
