Bob Kelley, who turned the Kelley Blue Book, a price list published by his family’s used-car dealership, into one of the world’s leading authorities on cars, trucks, motorcycles and pretty much anything else that gets you from point A to point B, died on May 28 at his home in Indian Wells, Calif., east of Los Angeles. The Kelley Blue Book started in 1926 at the Kelley Kar Co., a Los Angeles dealership founded by Mr. Kelley’s father, Sidney, and an uncle, Leslie Kelley. Mr. Kelley joined the company after the end of World War II, a prime time to get into the used-car business. The war had put an end to new-car production, and it would be several years before automakers could meet the demand. He was initially in charge of both valuations on new inventory and compiling the book, and he brought a jeweler’s eye to the job.

That’s short for Kelley Blue Book, and it’s one of the longest-standing sources for used car values there is. Bob Kelley, publisher of used car guide Kelley Blue Book, died at 96. By 1926, that list turned into the first Kelley Blue Book pricing guide for used cars. Long ago, Bob Kelley was a “lot boy” at the dealership run by his uncle and his father, Sidney “Buster” Kelley. In 1995, Kelley Blue Book started a website, making its data easily accessible to the general public, not just industry insiders.

A Texas woman who was reported missing this month and whose empty car was later found in a remote area has been found dead, officials said Thursday. Friends of Kelley reported her missing on Jan. 11 after not having heard from her for several days, the sheriff's office has said. The sheriff’s office has said Ferguson is also known as Kevin Brown, and online jail records list Ferguson as being married. The sheriff's office said the case was an ongoing homicide investigation. On Thursday, the Tarrant County medical examiner's office positively identified the remains found in Grand Prairie, the sheriff's office said.
The Justice Department wrote in its brief that a failed background check would not have kept Kelley, from conducting the shooting, and the government could not have known he intended to pursue the attack. But under Texas law, the United States is not legally responsible for the damages caused by that shooting." Critics said a successful appeal will ultimately undercut the background check system, damage the Biden administration’s gun safety law efforts and bolster the gun lobby. “The 26 dead and 22 injured at the Sutherland Springs mass shooting disagree.”Twenty-six crosses stand in a field to honor the victims killed during the mass shooting at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs in 2017. Now the survivors and victims must relive the traumatic shooting through an appeal that Alsaffar said could take as long as two years.

A Tennessee man already awaiting trial for assaulting a police officer during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol was charged again Friday with plotting to kill the federal agents who investigated him and planning to attack the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Knoxville, Tenn., field office. The plan by Edward Kelley, 33 years old, was foiled this past week when a witness gave police an envelope containing what appeared to be a hit list bearing the names of 37 people involved in the investigation into Mr. Kelley’s alleged role in the Capitol assault, federal prosecutors wrote in newly unsealed court records.

When Littlefield was convicted of murder and conspiracy to commit murder, her daughter provided some of the most damaging witness testimony The Indianapolis Star reported in August. More than two dozen people were killed when Devin Patrick Kelley opened fire during a Sunday service at First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs. U.S. District Judge Xavier Rodriguez had ruled in July that the Air Force was “60% liable” for the attack because it failed to submit Kelley’s assault conviction during his time in the Air Force to a national database. An Air Force record of the Kelley court-martial says he pleaded guilty to multiple specifications of assault, including striking his wife, choking her with his hands and kicking her. For unspecified reasons, the Air Force did not provide the information about Kelley as required. Messages to the Justice Department, Air Force and the plaintiffs’ legal team were not immediately returned.
