CNN —US tennis star Coco Gauff stormed to victory in the China Open final on Sunday, sweeping past Karolina Muchová 6-1 6-3. The straight-sets victory makes the 20-year-old the first American to win the tournament since Serena Williams back in 2013 – she now has eight WTA titles to her name. Gauff also made WTA history in the process, becoming the first woman to win her first seven hard-court finals in the Open era. It was an impressive performance from Gauff who wasted no time in stamping her authority on the final as she wrapped up the first-set in 30 minutes, a remarkable feat given Muchová’s recent run. Gauff will play the Wuhan Open next, as she continues to rise up the rankings once again.

1 and top seed in the Olympic tennis tournament, lost in the semifinals Thursday to China’s Zheng Qinwen, a massive upset in the women’s singles. Świątek, who is the dominant force on clay in women’s tennis, entered the Paris Olympics as the overwhelming favorite to win gold. “I know that in a regular women’s match, my stamina might have run out after such extended play. Świątek had cruised through the tournament to this point, dropping one set in her previous four matches. 7 took the first set from Świątek, who rallied after that to eventually ease past the then-newcomer to the WTA Tour.

PARIS — Iga Swiatek, the world No. 1, will have to settle for a bronze medal at best in the Olympic tennis tournament after losing to Zheng Qinwen of China. Zheng triumphed 6-2, 7-5, coming back from 0-4 down in the second set after the Pole and four-time French Open champion looked to have started rolling downhill. Even when, at 1-2 down in the first set, she immediately broke Zheng back to love, Swiatek could not sustain the shift in momentum. Swiatek will now face either Donna Vekic of Croatia or Anna Karolina Schmiedlova of Slovakia in the bronze medal match, while Zheng will play the other for Olympic gold.

This meant he judged the ball from Vekic to be in, and chair umpire Jaume Campistol awarded her the point because Gauff’s follow-up shot had gone into the net. Regarding the overruling of line calls, Case 7 is as follows:“If a chair umpire or line umpire calls ‘Out’ and then corrects the call to good, what is the correct decision? “Decision: The chair umpire must decide if the original ‘Out’ call was a hindrance to either player. Video line calls happen throughout top-level tennis. After the match, Vekic said, “It’s a very tricky situation.

The NATO official said they had observed “an unprecedented escalation and spread of Russia’s hybrid warfare” over the past six months, which included “physical sabotage” on the supply line of NATO weapons intended for Ukraine. “It is everything from point of production and origin, to storage, to those who are making decisions, to the actual delivery,” the senior NATO official said. Recent high-profile arrests have revealed the ad-hoc, clumsy nature of how the Kremlin’s intelligence operations have evolved since the start of the war in Ukraine. Russia is big enough to have resources to fight a war against Ukraine and also maintain its security operations against European countries… against us. There are people who take part in the war against Ukraine, and then they are rotated to some other region or area.

As The Japan Times reported, the model received criticism from some viewers, who argued that she didn't represent "true Japanese beauty," which is listed as the official goal of the Miss Japan Association.

CNN —The Ukrainian-born beauty queen who sparked a debate on cultural identity by being named Miss Japan has relinquished her title just two weeks after being crowned. TOKYO (AP) — Crowned Miss Japan this week, Ukrainian-born Karolina Shiino cried with joy, thankful for the recognition of her identity as Japanese. But her Caucasian look rekindled an old question in a country where many people value homogeneity and conformity: What does it mean to be Japanese? Shiino has lived in Japan since moving here at age 5 and became a naturalized citizen in 2022. But her crowning triggered a debate over whether she should represent Japan. Others said there was no problem with Shiino's crowning because her Japanese citizenship makes her Japanese.
