Holly Dresden joined Shopify as head of enterprise merchant success in December after six years with Salesforce Commerce Cloud. Evan AgostiniAs it moves further into enterprise, Shopify hasn't always been subtle about zeroing in on Salesforce as a competitor. It recently launched a webpage comparing its platform with Salesforce Commerce Cloud, encouraging merchants to "join the mass migration" of brands moving from Salesforce to Shopify. But winning over enterprise retailers requires a different approach, and it's one where Salesforce has more years of experience than Shopify. Talking the enterprise talkPoaching employees from Salesforce isn't the only way Shopify has made an effort to win over enterprise customers.

SAME BED DIFFERENT DREAMS, by Ed ParkJust after I’d registered for my first semester of college courses, I was meandering among a concourse of clubs and teams, fending off their grinning ambassadors, when a newspaper headline caught my eye: “U.S. Late in his lush, labyrinthine “Same Bed Different Dreams,” Ed Park recreates that moment, twisting the doomed flight’s number into a James Bond motif that resonates throughout the novel. Soon Sheen is an erstwhile Korean American writer turned lackey for GLOAT, a technology conglomerate. “Same Bed, Different Dreams” maps the arc of the mysterious Korean Provisional Government (or K.P.G. The party, which drew about 300 people, is in its fourth year. The hosts included Indra Nooyi, the former chief executive of PepsiCo; Anjula Acharia, an entrepreneur who also manages Priyanka Chopra-Jonas; and the designer Prabal Gurung. People shared how they celebrated the Hindu festival of lights growing up. The holiday, which falls this year on Nov. 12, will be observed by New York City schools for the first time in 2024. Broadcom and VMware announced the $61 billion deal last year and recently pushed back the deadline as it undergoes regulatory scrutiny. Insider spoke with one former and four current VMware employees about the changes they expect to face once they are owned by the chipmaker Broadcom. A VMware spokesperson said in a statement that after the deal closes, VMware customers will obtain "more choice and flexibility" in managing their IT needs, especially across multiple cloud-computing services. Executives leaving VMwareVMware has lost several key executives since the Broadcom deal was announced (including several defecting to VMware's archrival Nutanix). "Nonetheless, I've continued to see questions in press reports about whether we intend to raise prices on VMware products.

Noah noted the strong influence American political parties hold, encouraging his audience to consider issues outside the lens of democrat or republican ideals. From my mom, my gran, my aunt – all these Black women in my life,” the host said. “If you truly want to learn about America, talk to Black women,” he continued. Noah took over the program in 2015 from long-time host Jon Stewart whose 16-year run of the show shaped it into a late-night staple. He kicks off his “Trevor Noah: Off The Record” tour in Atlanta on January 20.

Courtesy Comedy CentralNoah’s final show is set to air this Thursday. The network has yet to announced whether guest hosts will revolve indefinitely or if a permanent, individual host will be named soon. “The Daily Show” airs weeknights at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central and is available the following morning on Paramount+.

CNN —“The Santa Clauses” doesn’t bother trying to reinvent the sleigh, but it does splash a new coat of paint on it, in mostly agreeable and mildly clever ways. After three movies over a 12-year span beginning in 1994, Tim Allen is back in a Disney+ series that, at six half-hour episodes, puts some additional cheer in holiday streaming. Still, producer/showrunner Jack Burditt (a veteran of “Modern Family” and “30 Rock”) does fill his bags with some surprises, and “The Santa Clauses” does a nifty job of cliffhanging its episodes, even the ones that drag a bit, to pull the audience along from one into the next. “The Santa Clauses” extends that relationship, in a festive package that’s bright, colorful and unburdened by loftier pretensions – just the kind of easy lift that should deliver a few good nights. “The Santa Clauses” premieres November 16 on Disney+.
The Meaning of a Yom Kippur Prayer

Sunday, Sept. 25, marks the beginning of one of the most important periods of the Jewish calendar. Rosh Hashana, the New Year, begins Sunday night, followed 10 days later by Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. Many Jews who do not attend synagogue regularly make sure to be present for the evening prayer service that marks the start of Yom Kippur, when worshipers recite Kol Nidrei, perhaps the most famous passage in Jewish liturgy—and one of the least understood. At first sight Kol Nidrei (also known as Kal Nidrei), which roughly translates to “all vows,” may seem technical and prosaic, entirely out of place for the holiest day of the Jewish year. One common version reads: “All vows, prohibitions, bans, oaths, restrictions, penalties and oaths of dedication, that we will utter and swear, and take upon ourselves, from this Day of Atonement until the next Day of Atonement, to come in goodness; all these [vows] I regret; let all of them be discarded and forgiven, abolished and undone; they are not valid and they are not binding.” As mundane as this may seem, by acknowledging the human temptation to take vows we will later regret, this legal formula offers an important message about the power of regret to foster lasting change in our lives.
‘The one thing that writing this book has taken from me is my ability to enjoy reading other books,’ says Kelly Ripa. When Kelly Ripa embarked on her first book in 2020, she wasn’t worried at all. “I think that because I enjoy doing something, because I enjoy reading, I can write a book.”But once she got started, that confidence began to dwindle. Fortunately, she had a Rolodex full of published-author friends to call on for motivation and advice. When deadline anxiety crept up on her, actor Alan Cumming “told me that he was four years past his deadline,” Ripa says.
