WASHINGTON — President-elect Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he wants ally Kari Lake to serve as the next director of the Voice of America, a federal network that's part of the U.S. Agency for Global Media. VOA representatives did not immediately respond to questions about the processes for nominating and approving a new director, as well as what Trump's announcement could mean for the employment of the current director, Michael Abramowitz. Lake taunted journalists as being "fake news," saying during the Republican National Convention that they have "worn out your welcome." Trump previously faced criticism for his 2020 appointment of Michael Pack to head the U.S. Agency for Global Media. The president-elect's post about Lake came alongside a handful of other administration announcements on Truth Social.

A top election official in Maricopa County said Sunday he moved to an "undisclosed location." Maricopa County Supervisor Bill Gates made the move after his office received death threats. Kari Lake, who lost the governor race, raised doubts about the election and suggested legal action. Maricopa County, which includes Phoenix, is the state's most populous, with more than 4.4 million residents. Masters also said there were "obviously a lot of problems with this election," previously citing long lines and issues with ballot printers, but ultimately called Kelly to concede.

It was only eons ago, when Lake first declared her candidacy, that Fox 10 mentioned she had worked at the station. But Lake’s 22-year history at Fox 10 is a crucial part of her story. A spokesperson for Katie Hobbs, Lake’s opponent in the race, told me that their camp has certainly observed this conspicuous lack of disclosure.
