A search is underway for an Arizona woman who was swept away in a flash flood Thursday while hiking at Grand Canyon National Park. The flash flood happened around 1:30 p.m. local time and stranded several hikers in the area. “Rescue efforts began promptly, with an initial flight taking off before 3 p.m. to assist individuals stranded both below and above Beaver Falls,” the National Park Service said. Nickerson’s husband was also swept away but he was rescued by a group of rafters, NBC affiliate KPNX reported. The National Park Service is asking anyone with information about Nickerson to reach out to its tip line at (888) 653-0009.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes’ office announced Monday that Jenna Ellis, a former Donald Trump attorney and one of the 18 defendants in the Arizona “fake electors” case stemming from the 2020 election, is cooperating with the prosecution. Ellis signed the cooperation agreement Monday morning, according to the announcement, which said prosecutors are dropping the charges against her. “This agreement represents a significant step forward in our case,” Mayes, a Democrat, said in a statement. In 2023, Ellis pleaded guilty in the Georgia election interference case in which Trump was also charged. Those accused of being “fake electors” and the others alleged to have been accomplices are charged with fraud, forgery, and conspiracy.

Three people are dead after they fell through the ice on a lake in central Arizona. The three were walking on Woods Canyon Lake, about 30 miles from the central Arizona city of Payson, when they fell through. A spokesperson for the department said officers were called to a residence near West Augusta Avenue and found "deceased victims" inside. A fourth grade student was charged on two felony counts after allegedly bringing a firearm to school in August, an Arizona prosecutor's office announced Monday. The charges stem from an Aug. 25 incident at Legacy Traditional School. Queen Creek Police Department said they responded to the school after reports a student had a firearm, NBC affiliate KPNX reported at the time. “Given the inherent danger involved with a gun being on a school campus, PCAO must take this seriously,” Volkmer said in Monday's press release. Police investigated armed and masked individuals parked near ballot drop boxes in Mesa, Arizona. Local reporters said there were two individuals "dressed in tactical gear, fully disguised" by a drop box. The DOJ is reviewing a report of voter intimidation from Mesa after a voter said he was accused of being a "mule." Late Friday night, deputies were "looking into several individuals watching a voter drop box in Mesa," ABC 15 Arizona reporter Nicole Grigg tweeted, adding that the individuals were "dressed in tactical gear, fully disguised" and armed. The family of an Arizona man fatally shot by Phoenix police after he threw rocks at their patrol vehicles has filed a notice of claim seeking $85 million. Osman family via KPNXOsman, 34, died at a hospital after two police officers shot him near an intersection in Phoenix. The department said the incident stemmed from Osman hitting police cruisers with rocks. As the patrol vehicles approached the intersection, Osman continued to throw rocks, according to the sergeant. Bower said one of the rocks hit one of the officers in the shin and that both patrol vehicles were damaged, including one which had a broken spotlight.
