CNN —A suspect is at large after five people, including an 8-year-old, were fatally shot in a Cleveland, Texas, home, according to San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers. Authorities found the victims Friday night after receiving a harassment report about 11:30 p.m. local time, the sheriff told CNN affiliate KHOU. Multiple people were shot around the residence, Capers said. There were 10 people inside the home at the time of the shooting, according to the sheriff. The victims range in age from 8 years old to about 40, Capers told reporters early Saturday morning.
Police say a man shot and killed five people after they asked him to stop shooting from his porch. The victims had asked the suspected gunman to quiet down as they had a baby trying to sleep. Southwest Airlines has canceled nearly 2,600 flights so far on Tuesday after canceling over 2,900 on Monday. For example, he explained one flight had two pilots and three flight attendants assigned to a flight but needed one more flight attendant for the plane to legally fly. There were several deadheading flight attendants onboard, meaning they were being flown to another city for an assignment but were "ready, willing, and able to work" that flight as well. "Even though we had a crew available, [scheduling] had no idea those flight attendants were in the back of the airplane." The latter's systems failed to keep up because flight attendants use a system largely reliant on phone lines, Montgomery told KHOU.
