PARIS — Steph Curry's late-game heroics and a lightning-fast American transition attack denied France its storybook basketball ending Saturday night. The United States consistently cashed in French turnovers and misses into fastbreak points and Curry scored a team-high 24 points in a 98-87 American win in the men’s basketball gold medal game. Curry gave the Bercy Arena fans his "night, night" taunt after the final, dagger jumper. The four-time NBA champ Curry said the gold medal is something he'll always cherish. Paris CNN —LeBron James made his emphatic return to Olympic basketball on Sunday, turning in a dominant performance in a 110-84 win against Serbia, his first contest at the Games since 2012. James’ 21 points, eight rebounds and nine assists helped provide the spark for Team USA throughout the contest. The first half though was all about Kevin Durant, who scored 21 points on 8-for-8 shooting. Edwards finished with 11 points and five rebounds. CNN —NBA legend LeBron James has been selected as Team USA’s male flag bearer for the Opening Ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee announced on Monday. Alongside a female flag bearer who will be announced on Tuesday, James will be front and center in a unique event. The Opening Ceremony will be held along the River Seine, marking the first time that the ceremony has not taken place inside a stadium. “It’s an incredible honor to represent the United States on this global stage, especially in a moment that can bring the whole world together,” James said in a Team USA statement. Per Team USA, more than 350 athletes (out of the 592 headed to the Games) will participate in the ceremony.
