A screengrab from a video shows security cam footage of Davis Moturi prior to allegedly being shot by his neighbor John Sawchak, while Moturi was doing yard work at his home. John Sawchak Hennepin County Sheriff's OfficePolice were first dispatched to the home in October 2023 after Sawchak allegedly made threats involving “disparaging racial comments” at Moturi. Then, a week before the shooting, Sawchak allegedly stood outside the Moturis’ home with a firearm and pointed the gun at Davis through the window, according to prosecutors. On October 23, Sawchak allegedly shot Moturi in the neck from his second-floor window. Yet his arrest has done little to quell renewed tensions between the Minneapolis officers and the community they have sworn to protect and serve.

The alleged shooter, John Sawchak – Moturi’s neighbor – surrendered around 1:24 a.m. Monday, following an hourslong standoff with police, O’Hara said at a news conference early Monday. Sawchak has been charged with attempted murder, felony assault, and stalking and harassment for allegedly shooting Moturi, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office said in court filings. By the time of his arrest, Sawchak had a yearslong history of harassing, threatening and attacking his neighbors, with three active warrants against him – including one for threats against Moturi. Police had been trying since April to arrest Sawchak, who has a history of mental illness, O’Hara said. I call because I want my family to be safe,” Moturi told KARE.

Court documents state that Sawchak shot his neighbor in the neck with a firearm from an open upstairs window. Moturi told them that his neighbor had threatened to shoot him “if he touched a specific tree.” While Moturi was cutting the tree, he was shot. The chief said Sawchak has not been arrested because he is “mentally ill” and possesses firearms. O’Hara said anyone who suggests that police do not want to arrest Sawchak is “simply wrong.” Frey’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In January 2016, he allegedly verbally harassed a neighbor while holding a knife and threatened to kill a neighbor, the documents say.

New York CNN —Lyft and Uber might hit reverse on plans to leave Minneapolis on May 1 over a new minimum wage for rideshare drivers set to go into effect on that day, if a city council measure passes Thursday. The issue stems from a March decision by the city council to override the mayor’s veto of a minimum wage for rideshare drivers, set at the local minimum wage of $15.57 an hour. The ordinance mandates rideshare drivers make at least $1.40 per mile and $0.51 per minute within Minneapolis. Now some council members want to amend the ordinance and lower the per-mile rate to $1.21, but maintain the proposed per-minute rate of $0.51. With this amendment, we can accomplish those goals.”The statement was released by Council President Elliott Payne and Council Members Katie Cashman and Aurin Chowdhury.

This second leak involved hundreds of gallons of radioactive water, according to the utility company, far less than the 400,000 gallons that was discovered leaking in late November. "I think the general public needs to be informed more about this," Megan Sanborn, 31, who lives 6 miles upstream from the nuclear plant, said. Tritium spills do happen occasionally but are typically contained within a nuclear site, according to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The incident comes as Xcel Energy is in the midst of seeking an operating license renewal for Monticello. At a town hall meeting over the license on Wednesday, before the latest leak was known publicly, Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials sought to allay residents' fears.

Authorities have identified a 19-year-old man fatally shot Friday inside a department store in the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, as Johntae Raymon Hudson. Hudson also told KARE 11 that when she learned her brother was shot, she held out hope he would survive. Several members of the New York Giants, who faced off against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday, were in the Mall of America when the shooting occurred. The mall told the station then that it was testing options “that may allow us to further enhance” security systems. Earlier this year, a man fired three shots in front of a store in the mall, KARE 11 reported.
A 19-year-old man was killed Friday night in a shooting at a store in the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, police said. One of the biggest makers of generic drugs, Israeli-based Teva said it aims eventually to secure a 10% global market share of biosimilars. A division of Novartis (NOVN.S), Sandoz is currently the second biggest player after Pfizer Inc (PFE.N) in the biosimilar market by gross sales globally, per IQVIA data, cited by Sandoz. Sandoz launched eight biosimilar drugs between 2017 and 2021, including a version of Bristol-Myers’ multiple myeloma drug Revlimid. The analysis projected the value of the global biosimilar market could more than triple to an estimated $74 billion by 2030. Sandoz and Teva are both working on biosimilars for Humira.

Kare Schultz said he wanted to make time for his family. Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. said it is looking for a new chief executive officer after Kare Schultz confirmed he will step down when his contract expires next year. Mr. Schultz said Thursday that he chose not to renew his contract, which expires in November 2023. “I’m here until then,” he said in an interview.
It's time to sell Teva stock as it's facing a period of significant downside amid a phase of uncertainty, according to UBS. However, Teva's development partner Alvotech recently received an observation letter from the FDA that puts the launch date at risk, Verma wrote. Without a drug similar to Humira, there's significant downside to earnings for Teva. Price fixing risk Teva is also facing headline risk from litigation concerning price fixing, according to the note. "The DOJ price fixing case outcome may involve potential debarment from conducting business in the government channel (worse case) and/or cash settlement in the $525m-$595m range," wrote Verma.
JERUSALEM, Nov 3 (Reuters) - Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd (TEVA.TA) will pay up to $523 million to New York State as part of a nationwide settlement of lawsuits alleging the company helped fuel the U.S. opioid epidemic. The settlement with New York adds an additional $300 million to Teva's total opioid payouts. James said the Teva settlement concludes the state's litigation against opioid manufacturers and distributors. Citing "continued foreign exchange headwinds", Teva lowered its 2022 revenue estimate to between $14.8 billion and $15.4 billion from a previously forecast $15 billion to $15.6 billion. Teva expects its two branded drugs, Ajovy to treat migraines and Huntington's disease drug Austedo, to reach a combined $1.4 billion in revenue this year.
CNN —D.H. Peligro, a drummer for punk rock icons the Dead Kennedys and formerly the Red Hot Chili Peppers, died Friday from a head injury, his band announced. “Police on the scene stated that he died from trauma to the head caused by an accidental fall,” a statement from the Dead Kennedys read. He was a drummer for punk rock legends the Dead Kennedys until the band’s breakup in 1986, after which he joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers for some time, CNN affiliate KARE reported. His passion for punk rock and funky music continued with his new band, Peligro, which featured him as a singer and guitarist. Other fellow bandmates and friends, including Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, have also taken to social media with tributes to Peligro.
That spike in demand pushed prices higher, and was exacerbated by the retirement of coal-fired and nuclear plants, in favor of electric generators. Meanwhile, natural gas production has been slow to come back online after waves of shutdowns during the Covid-19 pandemic. Today, the price of natural gas is at levels not seen in more than a decade. The company said the increases are directly related to higher natural gas prices. "For many struggling families, higher prices can mean being forced to choose between heat, food or medication," the association said.
The CEO of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Kare Schultz speaks during a news conference to discuss the company's 2019 outlooks in Tel Aviv, Israel February 19, 2019. REUTERS/Amir Cohen/File PhotoTEL AVIV, Sept 18 (Reuters) - Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (TEVA.TA) expects to finalise an opioid settlement in the United States by year-end and start paying in 2023, its chief executive said on Sunday, while confirming he was unlikely to renew his contract next year. "So, by the end of the year, you should have this clarification that it all comes together and we will start paying next year." Questioning the low share price, Schultz noted that Teva has a price-earnings ratio of about 3.5, whereas a normal rate should be 10. He suggested that the low share price largely stemmed from high debt, which has come down to $20 billion from $34 billion, and the opioid litigation.
