Even though I work hard to keep my physical fitness a priority, I'm a smaller person. But in the beginning, I pushed myself and worked especially hard for the same opportunities more readily given to men. As a volunteer, the job responsibilities are the same as a paid deputy fire chief. Being a firefighter takes a lot of hard work and hard hoursBut all of that effort you put in makes it that much more rewarding. He's been a volunteer firefighter for 23 years, and he got hired to a full-time career position almost 18 years ago (so he is a paid firefighter as a day job and a volunteer firefighter on his days off).
