The music festival All Things Go took place on Saturday and Sunday in Maryland and New York. Chappell Roan, a major draw, dropped out at the last minute — but other performers made up for it. Artists like MUNA, Reneé Rapp, and Janelle Monáe proved that other queer artists deserve the spotlight, too. AdvertisementOn Sunday evening, MUNA welcomed the crowd at Maryland's Merriweather Post Pavilion to All Things Go Music Festival, which the group lovingly dubbed "Lesbopalooza." At least one person was in full Lady Liberty drag, emulating Roan's onstage look at Governors Ball in June.

Listening to boygenius, Together and Apart

Dear listeners,It’s been a big week for boygenius, the singer-songwriter supergroup of Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus. “This is our last show,” Dacus told the crowd, “and we’re feeling it.”Is it weird to say I wasn’t mad about this news? “The Record” itself had been an unexpected bonus, since boygenius initially seemed like a one-off project that wouldn’t last longer than a six-song EP and a subsequent tour. But the runaway success of “The Record” also means that some people are more familiar with boygenius than with the three accomplished solo artists who make up the group. It’s a celebration of both the individual work of Baker, Bridgers and Dacus (which sounds like a law firm that I would definitely hire) and also the magic that happens when they put their Captain Planet powers together and become boygenius.

Best red carpet looks at the 2024 Grammys

While we’ve seen floral and black gowns take center stage on this year’s red carpets, the Grammys are known for showcasing bolder, more theatrical fashion. And who could forget Kim Petras and Sam Smith’s bold red ensembles which matched those of their entourage. Jordan Strauss/Invision/APThankGod4Cody Kayla Oaddams/WireImage/Getty ImagesVictoria Monét looked statuesque in a structured copper mermaid dress by Versace and a Bulgari Serpenti necklace. “I feel a bit (of) Joan of Arc energy in it,” she said during the official red carpet pre-show. The singer completed the look with Tiffany & Co jewelry, including a stunning necklace featuring rubellites, diamonds and an orange sapphire.

It's Taylor Swift's world, and she just allows us to live in it. “Midnights” earned Swift her fourth career Grammy for album of the year on Sunday, an achievement no one can match. It breaks a tie with Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder, who each won the honor three times. Swift was the last example of an action-packed show where women earned the biggest honors and had the majority of the most memorable performances. There was a brief pause before SZA accepted an award for best R&B song, since she was changing backstage.

Those include two major categories: record of the year (for the single “Not Strong Enough”) album of the year (for their debut “The Record” ). If they win either of those, they'd be the first “all-female” group to do so since the Chicks in 2007. But they're into the “The Chicks to the Boys” lineage, as Baker repeats it. “It means a lot because the project means a lot,” Bridgers says of their nominations. But for now, looking back at the success of “The Record,” there's only one question left to ask.

Her voice sounds utterly guileless as she sings about lust, betrayal, revenge and healing. 3. boygenius, ‘The Record’Synergy reigns in boygenius, the alliance of the singer-songwriters Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus. Paul Simon, ‘Seven Psalms’“Seven Psalms” comes across as a farewell album from Paul Simon, 82. Simon sings about mortality as a “great migration” and extols the presence and purpose of “The Lord,” as the biblical psalms do. The songs on her second album, “Guts,” combine pop’s concision and melody with rock’s potential to erupt.

CNN —The indie supergroup boygenius released a charity single on Friday, paying tribute to Sinéad O’Connor, the Irish singer-songwriter who died in July at age 56. Boygenius collaborated with Irish folk duo Ye Vagabonds to produce a cover of the popular folk song “The Parting Glass,” with the proceeds going to the Aisling Project – a Dublin-based charity chosen by O’Connor’s estate, which provides after-school activities, support and meals for disadvantaged children and young people. “We are absolutely thrilled that boygenius have chosen to give proceeds from the release to Aisling Project,” Project Leader Mícheál Clear told CNN. “It’s an absolute privilege to be associated with the stunningly beautiful homage to Sinéad O’Connor and we can’t possibly thank boygenius enough.”Sinéad O'Connor performs in Amsterdam, Netherlands in 1988. Like the recently Grammy-nominated boygenius, O’Connor also sang a version of “The Parting Glass” as a track on her 2002 album “Sean-Nós Nua.”

Nov 10 (Reuters) - Versatile recording artist SZA led this year's Grammy Award nominations with nine, coming in ahead of industry heavyweights Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Billie Eilish, in a year made for women artists and the movie blockbuster "Barbie." Victoria Monét followed closely behind SZA with seven nominations including best new artist and record of the year and best R&B song for "On My Mama." Rodrigo took six nominations, with her hit "vampire" getting nominated for record of the year, song of the year and best pop solo performance. Consistent with the girl power theme of this year's nominations, the motion picture "Barbie," directed by Greta Gerwig, captured four of the five nominations for best song written for visual media category. She is also tied with her husband, rapper Jay-Z, with the most career nominations with 88.

Ms. Swift’s tour alone is on pace to earn over a billion dollars, while Harry Styles’ Love On Tour ended a couple of weeks ago as the fourth-highest-grossing tour of all time. Elton John wrapped a tour earlier this summer that stands as the highest-grossing of all time — at least for now. While the average ticket price for the Bruce Springsteen tour is an already hefty $250, thanks to so-called dynamic pricing, tickets have been on sale for as much as $5,000. Beyoncé’s tour this summer boasts a giant metallic tank and robot arms, and Ms. Swift’s set is like a traveling Vegas production. For everyone else, there’s social media — and there’s been plenty this summer for online audiences to enjoy.

The Best of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Openers

Is it the best song on Haim’s sprawling and fantastic 2020 album “Women in Music Part III”? Even though she was born in 2000, “Care” shows how intuitively she understands something about the sort of scuzzy, anthemic indie-pop that underground labels like Slumberland Records were releasing in the ’90s. (A “Best of Slumberland Records” playlist in a future installment of The Amplifier? Muna featuring Phoebe Bridgers: “Silk Chiffon”Two Eras Tour openers for the price of one! Far and away my favorite song from Muna’s 2022 self-titled album, this one is pure pop bliss and a refreshing reverie of queer joy.
A streak of conspiratorial glee runs through “The Record,” the full-length debut album by boygenius. At Bridgers’s instigation, they regrouped to record a full album in January 2022; it’s being released on Friday. Even in the quietest, most self-questioning songs on “The Record,” boygenius sounds like its members are egging on one another, cheering the boldest moves and pushing past collaboration toward synergy. The three songwriters found one another as they crossed paths on the indie-rock circuit in the 2010s. On “The Record” — produced by boygenius with collaborators including Catherine Marks, Sarah Tudzin (of Illuminati Hotties) and Melina Duterte (a.k.a.
