CNN —Harvey Weinstein has been diagnosed with bone cancer, a source close to the incarcerated producer tells CNN. Weinstein’s specific diagnosis is chronic myeloid leukemia, a form of cancer of the bone marrow, the source says, adding that he is undergoing treatment at Rikers Island in New York. Weinstein’s longtime spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, declined to comment on Weinstein’s diagnosis. Weinstein’s prison consultant and authorized legal health care representative in New York state, Craig Rothfeld, shot down speculation regarding Weinstein’s diagnosis. The indictment was unsealed after it was initially announced during a court hearing last Thursday. An attorney for the woman whose grand jury testimony served as the basis of the new indictment said she intends to testify at trial. Prosecutors in New York began presenting the case to the grand jury in August. EVANSVILLE, Wis. (AP) — The first tornadoes ever recorded in Wisconsin in the usually frigid month of February caused more than $2.4 million in damage, officials said Wednesday. The tornadoes that ripped through Rock County on Feb. 8 killed some cattle and hit 30 homes, officials said. One confirmed tornado near Evansville was a “high end” F2, the weather service said. Those tornadoes are described as “significant,” with winds in this particular twister topping out at 135 mph (220 kph). The tornadoes were the first Wisconsin has experienced during the month of February since at least 1950, when records started being kept.

Gavin Newsom, is set to testify in the sexual assault trial of disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein in Los Angeles, her attorneys told CNN Monday. After he was found guilty in New York, the once-powerful movie mogul was moved to Los Angeles, where he’s been serving his prison sentence. In Los Angeles, Weinstein faces multiple sexual assault charges that he has pleaded not guilty to last year, including four counts of rape, four counts of forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration by force and sexual battery by restraint in incidents dating from 2004 to 2013. Jury selection for Weinstein’s trial began Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court. As the trial in Los Angeles is set to get underway, Weinstein has maintained his innocence and denied all allegations against him.

CNN —Anna Sorokin, the fake heiress Netflix’s “Inventing Anna” is based on, was released from ICE detention on Friday. The judge’s ruling also said ICE may use an ankle monitor to keep tabs on Sorokin. A spokesman for ICE said Sorokin was being released Friday after the judge’s ruling. Sorokin was released from jail in February 2021 after serving nearly four years on theft and larceny charges. Earlier this year an attorney representing Sorokin told NBC News that he feared her deportation when he couldn’t reach her, but word later emerged that she was still in ICE custody.
