CNN —A phased reopening of Apalachee High School, the scene of this year’s deadliest school shooting, is scheduled to begin September 24. The area where the Apalachee High shooting unfolded, J Hall, will be closed for the rest of the school year after two students and two teachers were killed in the September 4 attack. “Everyone is processing or will process a tragedy differently,” said Michelle Kefford, principal at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Among its advice: ensure all physical damage is repaired and let staff members “feel comfortable in their building” before students return. “Thank you for your patience, understanding, and trust,” the Apalachee High administrators ended their letter.

Within two hours of arriving at Apalachee High School in Winder, prosecutors said he committed the deadliest US school shooting since the March 2023 rampage at the Covenant School in Nashville, and the 45th this year. The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office arrive at the school a short while later with two school resource officers. An officer, sounding slightly out of breath, asks the dispatcher to “roll EMS.” She is heard confirming emergency medical services were en route to the high school. (CNN) — Marcee Gray was 200 miles away from Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, when her gut told her something was not right. It was Wednesday morning – before the shooting at the school that killed two students and two teachers. Marcee Gray told ABC News she hadn’t spoken to her son since the shooting. Marcee Gray told CNN in a text Wednesday she is set to speak with Barrow County investigators on Thursday. Danny Rampey, a Georgia Republican who won state office in November, was arrested Thursday. Investigators say there are videos of him taking prescription narcotics from the assisted-living complex he runs. Rampey is a manager at the family-owned Magnolia Estates of Winder Assisted Living Center. Investigators served search warrants on Thursday at Magnolia Estates and Rampey's home, Smith said. Insider contacted Rampey, Magnolia Estates, and the Barrow County Sheriff's Office for comments on Sunday morning but did not immediately receive responses.
