New York CNN —Following the success of Connections and Wordle, the pressure was on for the New York Times to find its next hit game.
It “bubbled up as a version of a word search that was true to the New York Times’ games,” Knight said.
The Times’ research of its subscribers found that Wordle players also solve word search games, making Strands a natural addition to its lineup.

Times’ Games app lets people play some puzzles, like Wordle and Strands, for free.
