Biological age has become a buzzword in longevity circles and is "the true age that our cells, tissues, and organ systems appear to be, based on biochemistry," according to the National Institute on Aging. The latest breakthrough in longevity research suggests there may be a way to measure the age of specific organs. A recent study in Nature utilized machine learning models to analyze the age of 11 major organs for 5,676 adults. AdvertisementKnowing your "oldest organ" might also tell you more about your health trajectory — and the age-related diseases you could develop — than your biological age. The study found that individuals with accelerated heart aging, for example, have a 250% higher risk of heart failure.

The decision is an early win for the Biden administration as it grapples with a flurry of other legal challenges that drugmakers have filed against the Medicare drug price negotiations. The judge's ruling won't end the legal battle over the policy, which could end up at the Supreme Court. A slate of major companies with drugs selected for negotiations, including J&J, Merck , and Bristol Myers Squibb , have filed separate lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of the price talks. The suit also argued that the price talks violate the Eighth Amendment because they include a "crippling" excise tax aimed at forcing drugmakers to accept the government-dictated price of medicines. The groups also argued that the price talks violate due process by denying pharmaceutical companies and the public input on how Medicare negotiations will be implemented.

Review and Outlook: Minnesota Congressman Dean Phillips fears President Biden could lose to Donald Trump, and he’s right. Images: Reuters/AFP/Getty Images Composite: Mark KellyThe last American President who tried to finance a war along with a new Great Society was Lyndon Johnson . President Biden now wants Congress to help allies win two wars abroad, and deter a third over Taiwan, yet he wants to continue spending on everything as if nothing in the world has changed. Mr. Biden has asked Congress for $106 billion for arms to Ukraine and Israel, plus money for the U.S. southern border and the Pacific theater. These are urgent priorities as two wars rage and the U.S. military isn’t remotely prepared to meet the growing threat of a Russia-Iran-China axis.

The pharmaceutical industry's largest lobbying group and two other organizations Wednesday sued the Biden administration over Medicare's new powers to slash drug prices for seniors under the Inflation Reduction Act. Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, along with the National Infusion Center Association and the Global Colon Cancer Association, argue that the Medicare negotiations with drugmakers violate the U.S. Constitution, in a complaint filed in federal district court in Texas. The groups asked the court to declare the program unconstitutional and prevent the Department of Health and Human Services from implementing Medicare negotiations without "adequate procedural protections" for drug manufacturers. It marks the fourth lawsuit challenging the controversial provision of the Inflation Reduction Act, which became law last summer in a major victory for President Joe Biden and Democratic lawmakers. The lawsuit also argues the policy violates due process by denying pharmaceutical companies and the public input on how Medicare negotiations will be implemented.

The health of the IPO market is dependent on many factors, but principally it boils down to: 1) the strength of the overall stock market (trending up is best), and 2) interest rates (lower is better). The IPO investor wish list: stable markets, Fed done hiking, and lower IPO prices "The most important factor for the IPO market is you need the market to hold up well," Santosh Rao, head of Research at Manhattan Venture Partners, told me. Another essential ingredient for a healthy IPO market: stable interest rates. But the IPO market hasn't seen a "normal" year in a while. High initial IPO prices have proven to be devastating to IPO investors.
Tennessee’s Republican-led House of Representatives expelled two Democratic lawmakers Thursday, a rare punishment for speaking out of turn on the House floor following last week’s mass shooting at a Nashville school. But lawmakers failed to get the two-thirds majority needed to expel their colleague Rep. Gloria Johnson .
The Chicago Teachers Union Power Play

Whatever happens in the Chicago mayoral election, voters can never unsee what they’ve witnessed from the Chicago Teachers Union, as it throws its feverish support to progressive candidate Brandon Johnson . The union’s falling approval ratings may be a leading indicator that Chicago voters understand the power grab at stake on April 4. In two recent polls by IZQ Strategies, respondents were asked their view of the CTU, the longtime power in city politics. In January 57% of likely voters said they had a favorable view of the union. By February that number had sunk to less than half, while unfavorables rose.

The historian Robert Caro says he has built his career exploring a single grand theme: “how political power really worked.” Not how it worked in theory, or how it was supposed to work. His subjects were two men who achieved and wielded power like few others: Robert Moses and Lyndon Johnson . Moses built Lincoln Center, the West Side Highway, the F.D.R. Drive, the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge and many other vital pieces of the New York landscape; Johnson built the Great Society and led the U.S. into war in Vietnam. The engrossing documentary “Turn Every Page—The Adventures of Robert Caro and Robert Gottlieb ” gives equal attention to Mr. Caro and his editor, a figure of similar renown in the publishing field, Robert Gottlieb.

Jefferies thinks investors need to look for income in this volatile market environment, noting that one of the best ways to do that is through high-quality dividend stocks. Jefferies data show that high-quality yield stocks have outperformed in downturn and slowdown phases. "Focusing on high-quality yield stocks has been highly rewarded over the long term," Peramunetilleke wrote in a note Thursday. The stock, up more than 16% so far this year, has a 12-month forward dividend yield north of 7%. Coca-Cola was also named a top dividend stock by Morgan Stanley, while CNBC's Jim Cramer said it was one of his 10 favorite " dividend aristocrats ."
