Harry Dunn, a former U.S. Capitol Police officer who gained renown for defending the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, is the best known of 22 Democrats competing for the open seat, which is being vacated by John Sarbanes, a longtime Democratic incumbent who is retiring. The winner is likely to be a heavy favorite in the Democratic-leaning district.
