(AP) — A Montana appliance store owner and supporter of former President Donald Trump was convicted Wednesday for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol that interrupted certifying the 2020 Electoral College vote. Henry Phillip Muntzer of Dillon was arrested based on social media posts and videos taken inside the Capitol, according to court records. Muntzer, 55, was found guilty of obstructing an official proceeding and civil disorder, both felonies, following a bench trial before U.S. District Court Judge Jia M. Cobb. Muntzer was also found guilty of four misdemeanor charges. In Dillon, Muntzer is known for a pro-QAnon mural on the building that houses his appliance store, according to the Dillon Tribune.

A Florida man was sentenced on Wednesday to five years in prison for assaulting at least six police officers during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol, including one officer who said that the attack had led him to retire early, the Justice Department announced. Prosecutors described the man, Kenneth Bonawitz, 58, of Pompano Beach, Fla., in court papers as “one of the most violent January 6 rioters.” He was also sentenced to 36 months of supervised release following his time in prison and fined $2,000 by Judge Jia M. Cobb of U.S. District Court in Washington, prosecutors said. Mr. Bonawitz, who was arrested in January 2023, pleaded guilty in August to three felony charges: civil disorder, obstruction of an official proceeding and assaulting a law enforcement officer during a civil disorder, prosecutors said. Prosecutors asked the judge in a memorandum to sentence Mr. Bonawitz to the maximum prison sentence of 71 months, just shy of six years. In the memo, they included victim impact statements from two of the officers who were assaulted.

Such a switch from a white-collar job to "qing ti li huo" (or "light labor" in Chinese) is gaining popularity among younger people in the country. It was only in hindsight that Wang realized she never "personally wanted" to pursue her major, or be in a white-collar job. "I looked back and I realized it was because my parents told me to choose it, people told me that with this major I'd have a really, really great future," Wang said. She earned about 12,000 Chinese yuan ($1,700) a month in her white-collar job. But what may be priceless to her is the self-discovery Wang said she's been able to experience after walking away from her white-collar job.

Dan dan noodlesIt’s nearly impossible to dislike China’s soul-comforting dan dan mian, or dan dan noodles. Dan dan noodles are named after the way they were originally sold more than 100 years ago – on a dan dan, a carrying pole, by street hawkers. Some think dan dan noodles should contain a dry mix of noodles, made with minced meat, chopped scallions, spices, crushed peanuts and various sauces. Others disagree, preferring dan dan noodles in a hot, spicy, salty and nutty broth albeit with similar ingredients. Similar to Hainanese chicken rice, the Wenchang version is often served with yellow chicken fat rice and chicken soup.

"Tang ping" and "bai lan" reflect the intense competition faced by young Chinese today, said Jia Miao, an assistant professor from NYU Shanghai. "Tang ping is the rejection of overworking, where you let things be and do the bare minimum," said Miao. Unemployment and uncertaintiesBoth buzzwords, tang ping and bai lan, reflect the intense competition faced by young Chinese today, said Miao.
