CNN —Richard Allen has been found guilty of two counts of murder and two counts of felony murder in the highly publicized Delphi murder trial, according to CNN affiliate WTHR. Delphi law enforcement have long held they believe the “Bridge Guy” shown in the video is the main suspect in the case. Prosecutors drew attention to the .40-caliber unspent round found by the girls’ bodies, which a prosecution expert testified matched Allen’s pistol. The prosecution has also tried to match Allen with the video and audio recording of the “Bridge Guy” captured on Libby’s cellphone. “Richard Allen is ‘Bridge Guy,’” McLeland told jurors.

Jurors will deliberate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday until they reach a verdict, according to WTHR. Last month, 16 Allen County residents were selected to serve on the jury, including four people serving as alternates, WTHR said. “I believe the evidence is firmly convincing that Richard Allen is Bridge Guy and he killed Abby and Libby,” McLeland told the jury. Prosecutors drew attention to the .40-caliber unspent round found by the girls’ bodies, which a prosecution expert testified matched Allen’s pistol. He also pointed out that Allen still lived in Delphi for more than five years after the girls were killed.

CNN —A critical witness in the original trial of disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has announced she will testify in his upcoming retrial on criminal charges. After Weinstein’s conviction was overturned earlier this year, Mimi Haley, a former production assistant on The Weinstein Company’s “Project Runway,” said she wasn’t sure if she wanted to go through it all again. Haley alleged that Weinstein had pinned her down and forced her into a sex act in 2006 at his Manhattan apartment. Last week, he was indicted in Manhattan in connection to new sexual assault allegations, according to prosecutors. If he is cleared to attend the hearing, Weinstein is expected to be arraigned on the new indictment.

CNN —A Manhattan grand jury has indicted Harvey Weinstein on new sex crime charges, according to his attorney Arthur Aidala. “The grand jury has indicted Mr. Weinstein,” prosecutor Nicole Blumberg said during a court hearing on Thursday. It could include sexual assault allegations from three women, prosecutors said at a separate hearing last week. One alleged assault occurred at a residential building in lower Manhattan in the winter months between 2005 and 2006. A source with knowledge of the matter told CNN that alleged assault is said to have occurred during in 2006.

Weinstein has experienced a number of health problems in recent years and has appeared in court in a wheelchair. CNN —Gabby Petito once asked Brian Laundrie to stop calling her names, according to a letter she wrote released in a collection of FBI documents, signaling tensions between the couple prior to the 2021 road trip that would end with Laundrie killing his 22-year-old fiancée. Also included are scores of photographs of items recovered by authorities after the execution of a search warrant on September 20, 2021, including Petito’s letter to Laundrie. CNN has reached out to an attorney for Petito’s parents for comment on the letter. There is no context for Petito’s letter, and it’s unclear why the couple was at odds when she wrote it. The footage shows Moab police officers talking to Petito and Laundrie, who admitted having a fight in which Petito said she struck her fiancé first.

NEW YORK CNN —A Manhattan prosecutor said Wednesday a new indictment against Harvey Weinstein is possible as additional accusers have come forward with claims against the powerful Hollywood producer whose downfall became a symbol of the #MeToo movement. That trial similarly used “prior bad acts” witnesses and has also been appealed. In addition, three other women testified at trial as “prior bad acts” witnesses. They argued the “prior bad acts” witnesses should not have been allowed to testify and the court should not have given prosecutors the ability to question Weinstein about instances of verbal abuse and bullying on cross-examination. In sexual assault cases, their testimony can turn a difficult “he said, she said” case into a more convincing “he said, they said” case.

Christopher and Roberta Laundrie denied being told by their son that he killed Petito, though Roberta Laundrie said the thought “probably went through my mind.”Petito’s family reported the 22-year-old missing on September 11, 2021, 10 days after Brian Laundrie returned to his parents’ home in North Port, Florida. He vanished soon after, igniting a weekslong manhunt that ended with the discovery of his remains in a Florida nature reserve. The latest lawsuit names Christopher and Roberta Laundrie and their attorney, Steven Bertolino, as defendants, claiming the trio’s actions during the search for Petito caused her parents severe emotional distress. Heather Unbehaun, the mother of now 15-year-old Kayla Unbehaun, is being held at the Kane County Adult Justice Center in Illinois without bond on an abduction charge, according to the jail. She bonded out Tuesday morning and was released, Asheville Police Department spokesperson Samantha Booth told CNN on Tuesday. When Iserka went to pick up his daughter the next day, he was told Unbehaun took her on a camping trip and Unbehaun and Kayla never returned, Vojta told CNN. Heather Unbehaun, the woman accused of abducting her daughter from a suburb of Illinois six years ago, is due in court on Wednesday morning. The child’s parents shared custody of her until Iserka filed for full custody after Unbehaun moved to Georgia with Kayla, according to Vojta.
Roberta and Christopher Laundrie have asked the court for a protective order so they don’t have to turn over the letter. The Petitos filed a civil lawsuit against the Laundries for emotional distress in connection with Gabby’s death while traveling with Brian, her fiancé. Brian was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound around a month after Gabby’s remains were discovered in September 2021. Brian admitted that he was responsible for Gabby’s death in a notebook found with his remains, according to the FBI. The Petitos’ lawsuit, filed in March 2022, alleges outrageous behavior of intentional infliction of emotional distress by the Laundries during the time Gabby was missing.
