The 20-year-old Alcaraz, who also has won six titles this season, missed out on becoming the youngest finalist in the season-ending tournament since Pete Sampras in 1991. The twice Grand Slam winner bounced back early in the second set but then dropped serve before Djokovic took a 3-1 lead. Djokovic, aiming for a tournament record seventh title, now prepares for Sinner, who beat Daniil Medvedev, and will be out for revenge after losing to the Italian in the group stage. "I knew it was a high intensity match, we've played four times in the last 18 months," said Djokovic, who now has three wins in five meetings with Alcaraz.

Universitario claimed a record-extending 27th league title after a 2-0 win at city rivals Alianza on Wednesday had wrapped up a 3-1 aggregate victory. But before the celebrations could get underway the lights went out at the Alejandro Villanueva stadium, an incident Universitario labelled both disgraceful and dangerous. The club added that the award ceremony will be held at their home Monumental U stadium on Sunday. Universitario later poked fun at their rivals' move on social media and issued a reminder about the league title count. "Say goodbye to unforeseen events, don't be left without electricity in the middle of your celebrations," the club wrote.

West Ham lost 2-1 away to the Greek side a fortnight ago but their win at the London Stadium put them level on nine points with second-placed Freiburg, who crushed bottom side Backa Topola 5-0. The West Ham fans then held their breath late on as the visitors nearly equalised when Mady Camara's close-range header struck the post when he should have scored.
