A senior administration official said that the recent dysfunction in Congress, including the vacant speakership, had been the topic of discussion at the White House with regard to options for assisting Israel.
“Without a speaker of the House, that is a unique situation we're gonna have to work through,” the official said while noting there was also a role for the Senate to play should emergency assistance for Israel be needed.
The Biden administration’s nominee for Ambassador to Israel, Jacob Lew, has yet to be confirmed by the Senate.
