Read previewIn the wake of an assassination attempt against him, Donald Trump has an idea to unite the country: stop prosecuting him. Shortly after a Florida judge dismissed the classified documents case against Trump, Trump urged in a post on Truth Social on Monday that all remaining charges against him should be dropped. Without providing any details, Trump told the Post "we hear" that Biden will order the Department of Justice to drop its criminal cases against Trump. Trump and the GOP have repeatedly alleged, long before Saturday's shooting, that Biden is behind the charges against Trump. "Our prayers are with the victims of the shooting, President Trump and our country."

AdvertisementThis was Belgium at their finest, and Romania raised the level of their game in the second half to try to equalise. If Austria wanted to have any chance of qualifying to the round of 16 they had to beat Poland in their second group game. The wide areas were where Ukraine focused their attacks, and Oleksandr Zinchenko’s square pass to Mykola Shaparenko made it 1-1 in the second half. However, Samet Akaydin and Altay Bayindir’s mishap on the second goal decreased Turkey’s probability of a comeback. More off-ball runs in the second half led to the third, and by then the match was done and dusted.

J&J advances $6.475 billion settlement of talc cancer lawsuits
  + stars: | 2024-05-01 | by ( ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +3 min
It will begin a three-month voting period in hopes of reaching consensus on a settlement of all current and future ovarian cancer claims. Ovarian cancer claims account for 99% of the talc-related lawsuits filed against J&J (JNJ), including about 54,000 lawsuits that are centralized in a New Jersey federal court proceeding. In March, J&J received a new chance to contest the scientific evidence linking talc to ovarian cancer in the centralized litigation in New Jersey federal court. But, the litigation has resulted in some large verdicts for plaintiffs, including a $2.12 billion award in favor of 22 women who blamed their ovarian cancer on asbestos in J&J talc. In the past month, J&J was recently ordered to pay $45 million in a mesothelioma case while winning an ovarian cancer case.

Donald J. Trump plans to meet with the right-wing president of Poland this week, the latest in a series of his private interactions with leaders or emissaries from countries from the Persian Gulf to Eastern Europe, many of whom share an affinity with his brand of politics. Mr. Trump is expected to have dinner in New York with Poland’s president, Andrzej Duda, on Wednesday, his one day off from court this week, according to two people briefed on the arrangements who were not authorized to discuss them publicly. The meeting was mentioned as a possibility by Mr. Duda on X shortly after The New York Times approached his office for comment. It will be a reunion for Mr. Trump and Mr. Duda, who once proposed naming a military base after Mr. Trump and who now shares power in Poland with a rival whose politics are much more aligned with those of President Biden. Mr. Trump’s other recent interactions with foreign leaders and their representatives include a phone call he had last month with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, which was previously undisclosed.

First, the conventions of the criminal trial – like those in thousands of courtrooms every day – mean this case will grind on relentlessly. In previous civil trials, Trump challenged the dignity of the rule of the court and feuded with other judges. But potential jurors appeared to take their obligation deeply seriously. But other potential jurors said they’d be able to put any political feelings about Trump to one side and focus on the evidence and the law. And in another revealing trend that hinted at the ex-president’s political appeal, some potential jurors mentioned that they viewed his rhetorical eruptions as those of someone who speaks his mind, unlike conventional politicians.

Unlike Obama and Clinton before him, Biden is running against a candidate only a few years his junior. It was a twist on how Clinton answered a question about Dole's age during the second presidential debate in 1996. There is not much precedent for the event Biden's campaign is putting on Thursday. Low-risk retail arbitrage is time-intensive, however. He had a few summer vacation months ahead: the perfect opportunity to scale a retail arbitrage operation. With FBA, he wouldn't have been able to list products until Amazon received them, which would have killed his strategy of listing products before purchasing inventory. Dhingra, now 20, is in his junior year at VCU and focused on other entrepreneurial projects since retail arbitrage requires so much time. He has reinvested 100% of his profits back into the arbitrage business, he said: "I haven't taken a single disbursement from my business checking.

Nov 16 (Reuters) - Slovakia recovered from a goal down to beat Iceland 4-2 at home in Group J on Thursday, becoming the latest country to secure a place at next year's European Championship. Juraj Kucka equalised at the half-hour mark before Ondrej Duda completed the turnaround six minutes later, slotting home a penalty after Kristian Hlynsson fouled him. After the break, Slovakia dominated, with Lukas Haraslin scoring two minutes into the second half and completing his brace eight minutes later with a curled shot from the edge of the box. The victory ensures a top-two finish for Slovakia in Group J along with already-qualified Portugal. FALLS CHURCH, Va. (AP) — A high-profile Democratic prosecutor in northern Virginia who pursued progressive reforms and drew criticism from Republican Gov. Biberaj conceded a day after the Loudoun County Board of Elections finished counting all ballots. Late absentee and provisional ballots narrowed Biberaj's deficit from roughly 1,000 votes to just 300 votes out of more than 135,000 ballots cast. Anderson, who served as Loudoun's top prosecutor from 1996 through 2003, spent just $70,000 on his campaign, compared to more than $1.1 million spent by Biberaj, according to the Virginia Public Access Project. Apple has agreed to pay $6.75 million in civil penalties and establish an $18.25 million fund for back pay to eligible discrimination victims, the DOJ said in a release. The DOJ said that it believed that Apple followed procedures that were designed to favor current Apple employees holding temporary visas who wanted to become permanent employees. What the Israel-Hamas war means for defense stocks
  + stars: | 2023-10-18 | by ( Nicole Goodkind | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +7 min
New York CNN —When war breaks out, defense companies tend to make money. That means aerospace and defense stocks tend to rise during geopolitical unrest. Defense stocks typically rise after military conflicts but soon lose those gains. Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the iShares defense ETF surged by 5%, with Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman’s shares jumping about 20%. Goldman Sachs announced third-quarter results on Tuesday morning, reporting earnings of $5.47 per share, which beat the $5.31 expected by analysts.
