In 2020, the US revoked visas for more than 1,000 Chinese students and researchers deemed security risks. In January this year, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said in a briefing that “dozens of Chinese nationals, including international students, have been forcibly deported by the US each month.” He decried it as “discriminatory,” urging the US to protect the rights of Chinese students abroad. The parents of a Massachusetts high school senior are suing his teacher, school district faculty members and a local school committee for punishments he received after he used artificial intelligence tools to research and create an outline for a history class essay. The lawsuit is one of the first of its kind in contesting school discipline over the use of AI to complete academic work. After touring Oxford during my semester abroad, I can see myself going to grad school there. I also took classes at the London School of Economics for six weeks — aided logistically and financially by the Yale study abroad office but ultimately organized by myself. Although I was only there for a few weeks, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed my experience with the UK school system.
