And among those watching most closely are world leaders near and far. Of course, world leaders have generally stayed mum on the issue of which man they prefer – although I would wager that most favor the status quo over a return to the raucous years of Trump’s presidency. Some world leaders have already signaled their aversion to another Trump presidency. But for these foreign leaders, coming out against Trump is a move that is chock full of risks. The stakes in this election are too high for global leaders to stay mum.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged tensions with historical ally the U.S. over the military offensive in Rafah in the Gaza Strip, but stood firm that the operation is required to protect Israeli security. But we have to do what we have to do," Netanyahu said Wednesday, in an interview with CNBC's Sara Eisen. Over 1,200 people have been killed in Israel since October, according to Israel's prime minister's office. Meanwhile, more than 35,000 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian health ministry's latest official count. Earlier this week, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stressed that Washington could not endorse a Rafah military incursion in the absence of a "credible" plan to safeguard civilians.

US President Joe Biden (L) meets with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv on October 18, 2023, amid the ongoing battles between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas. The families want the government to take bold steps to free the hostages, fearing that Israel's military activity in Gaza further endangers their lives. Health authorities in Hamas-ruled Gaza say Israel's offensive has killed nearly 25,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children. As part of its search for the hostages, Israel's military dropped leaflets on Gaza's southernmost town of Rafah. Israel's military didn't immediately comment.

The life story of Arnon Milchan, billionaire Hollywood mogul and secret agent, could have been made for the silver screen: He produced blockbusters like “Pretty Woman,” “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” and “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and also made a fortune from arms dealing, including covert exploits procuring weapons for Israel, his native country. A decade ago, he went public about his work for Israeli intelligence, landing himself in a spot of trouble. But a longstanding relationship he had with Benjamin Netanyahu, then and once again the Israeli prime minister, proved to be useful. Mr. Netanyahu successfully lobbied senior American officials on Mr. Milchan’s behalf to reinstate his visa, according to an Israeli indictment against Mr. Netanyahu.

U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy addresses the Israeli legislature in Jerusalem. Photo: abir sultan/ShutterstockJERUSALEM—House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said Monday that he would invite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Congress if President Biden doesn’t invite him to the White House, amid tensions between the Israeli leader’s right-wing government and the Democratic administration. Mr. McCarthy (R., Calif.) told reporters that he expects Mr. Biden to invite the Israeli premier “especially because of Israel’s 75th anniversary,” which the country celebrated last week. Mr. McCarthy added that he had already invited Israeli President Isaac Herzog to address Congress this summer.
From blocking highways to dressing up as handmaids, hundreds of thousands of Israelis have protested for three months against a judicial overhaul planned by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government. Photo Composite: Emily SiuTEL AVIV—Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that he is committed to reaching a compromise over a proposed judicial overhaul that has sharply divided the country, even as he comes under increasing pressure from elements within his own government to advance the legislation. Mr. Netanyahu agreed at the end of March to delay a vote on a key piece of the legislation and engage in negotiations with the opposition until after Israel’s Parliament, or Knesset, reconvened after Jewish and national holidays. The bill would have been the first piece of a broader effort to weaken the power of the Supreme Court and give greater control to elected lawmakers. The Knesset reconvenes Sunday, adding urgency to the talks with the opposition as the coalition can now advance pieces of the overhaul for the first time since negotiations began.

Ron DeSantis , an expected 2024 GOP presidential candidate, during the governor’s visit to Israel scheduled for later this month. Protestors gather in Tel Aviv on April 15 to stage a protest against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government's regulations restricting the powers of the judiciary. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday dismissed concerns about damaged investor confidence, despite massive and intensifying weekly protests over his planned overhaul of the country's judiciary. I think the momentary fluff, the momentary dust that is in the air is just that — dust. The country has been rocked by mass protests over the government's months-long bid to push through deeply contentious judicial reforms. Netanyahu, re-elected in November to serve as prime minister for a third time, agreed late last month to delay the planned judicial reforms.

JERUSALEM—Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has temporarily suspended his decision to fire Defense Minister Yoav Gallant due to the tense security situation in the country, people close to the premier said Monday, days after the dismissal amplified mass protests across Israel. Mr. Netanyahu on March 26 said he was firing Mr. Gallant, who is a member of the prime minister’s own Likud party, a day after the defense minister called for a delay to the government’s controversial judicial overhaul plan. Mr. Gallant at the time said that protests within the military against the proposals had become a grave threat to the country.
JERUSALEM—Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ’s coalition met Tuesday night with opposition leaders to begin negotiations over a judicial overhaul plan after widespread protests that shook the country.
