The red supergiant star, called WOH G64, is about 160,000 light-years from Earth in the Large Magellanic Cloud, which orbits the Milky Way.

A Maryland man recently made a remarkable discovery in the Chesapeake Bay: An almost-whole human skeleton that appears to be at least a century old. NBC Washington reported George Oliver, who lives in Calvert County, was walking the shores of the bay on Nov. 4, looking for fossils, as he usually does. Oliver told the station that he could see the coffin, but that it was completely submerged in water. "When I first found it, you could not tell that there was human remains," Oliver told NBC Washington. When he found the coffin, Oliver assumed that leg bone might have been a part of the newly-discovered skeleton.

CNN —A mummified ice age cub from Siberia is the first known mummy of a sabre-toothed cat, and its discovery is generating ripples of excitement among paleontologists. A, B and C reveal views of the mummified Homotherium latidens specimen: A is a thumb claw; B a second digit claw; and С a plantar view. However, the mummy also showed that sabre-toothed cubs differed dramatically from modern lion cubs of a similar age, Lopatin said. Its coat was darker, and its ears were smaller than those of lion cubs; it had longer forelimbs, a larger mouth opening and a more massive neck. Its paw is also more circular than that of a lion cub; in fact, its shape more closely resembles the paw of a bear, Tseng added.

Even in Friday's 1.3% slide in the S & P 500, only two-thirds of all stocks were down on the day and the equal-weight S & P was off a modest three-quarters of a percent. It makes sense that the market wasn't able to summon a sustained thrust of exuberance after the election anxiety evaporated, given the somewhat demanding starting point. A more mature economic and risk cycle and vulnerability to higher rates among smaller, lower-quality stocks mean they aren't likely to lead from here, Pies says. Is the market presciently foretelling an unleashing of transactional fervor that will return Wall Steet's middlemen to their former glory?

Bitcoin is closing in on $100,000 for the first time, but could still double after that, according to BCA Research. That narrative gives Bitcoin its network effect: a positive feedback system in which the asset increases in value as more people use it. "Bitcoin, with a market value of $1.5 trillion, comprises less than 10 percent of the total market for non-confiscatable assets," he said. "As bitcoin's share of this market increases, and the supply of bitcoins reaches its upper limit, bitcoin's price has substantial upside." The price of bitcoin has soared 32% since Election Day in the U.S. last week.

The exact origins of the necklace have not been recorded, with Sotheby’s stressing it does not know for certain. That history centers on Louis XV, the king of France, who commissioned a lavish diamond necklace for his mistress, Madam Du Barry, in 1722 — two years before he died of smallpox. Marie Antoinette, the country's new queen consort, declined to buy the necklace despite her reputation for extravagance. In 2022, bracelets that once belonged to Marie Antoinette sold for more than $8 million at auction, also in Geneva.
