The flooding in Myanmar began last Monday, with at least 74 people killed by Friday, based on state media reports. Myanmar has been in turmoil since a military coup in February 2021, and violence has engulfed large parts of the country. “Central Myanmar is currently the hardest hit, with numerous rivers and creeks flowing down from Shan hills,” the OCHA said. State media also reported that five dams, four pagodas and more than 65,000 houses were destroyed by the flooding.

CNN —At least 74 people have died and scores more are still missing in Myanmar following heavy flooding and landslides caused by Typhoon Yagi, state media reported on Sunday. The flooding across the civil war-torn country has impacted more than 450 villages and wards, according to Myanmar News Agency (MNA). Images from news agency AFP showed submerged homes and vehicles in the city of Taungoo, an hour south of the capital Naypyidaw. Rather than building an entirely new vessel, it was decided to modify medium-sized landing ships (classified as LSMs for 'Landing Ship Medium'). Officially renamed USS White River in 1955, the ship was decommissioned again in 1956. A day after that, White River fired on a nearby VC anti-aircraft site, destroying it and killing or wounding 11 guerillas.
