Republican presidential nominee and former U.S. President Donald Trump attends his campaign rally at Macomb Community College in Warren, Michigan, U.S., November 1, 2024. Throughout the week, Trump's campaign aired thousands of ads focused on his policy platform: universal tariffs, deeper tax cuts and sweeping immigrant deportations. "This joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign," Trump campaign senior advisor Danielle Alvarez said last Sunday night. The Harris campaign has spun Trump's comment into a contrast to back its bipartisan case for the Democratic presidential nominee. Vice President Kamala Harris tore into Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., on Saturday for his comment that Republicans might seek to repeal the CHIPS and Science Act if they take control of Congress in the upcoming election. Now to get rid of the CHIPS Act,” Harris added. When asked whether Republicans will seek to repeal the CHIPS Act if they win the election, Johnson replied, “I expect that we probably will,” according to a video posted by a local journalist. “The CHIPS Act is hugely impactful here,” Williams said, vowing to “remind” Johnson “night and day” about the importance of the law. His only mistake was being honest.”The CHIPS Act passed Congress on a bipartisan basis and was signed into law by President Joe Biden in 2022.

CNN —Democrats are mounting an unprecedented digital advertising campaign in the closing weeks of the presidential race, pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into a targeted effort that the party hopes will tip the balance in one of the closest elections in US history. The effort is being steered by Future Forward PAC, or FF PAC, the largest single-candidate super PAC in the 2024 election. The 2024 election is poised to break the record set by the 2020 election and see $10.2 billion worth of campaign advertising, according to the ad tracking firm AdImpact. The ad laboratoryWith its massive war chest, FF PAC has faced the challenge of effectively and efficiently distributing its resources. Vance, who is expected to hold a campaign event in Pennsylvania later Wednesday, will meet with Rogan at his podcast studio in Austin, Texas. Though this will be his first appearance on Rogan’s show, Vance has appeared on dozens of podcasts since joining the Republican presidential ticket. Last week, the senator sat for two separate podcast tapings — Theo Von and Tim Dillon — for a combined nearly four hours of content. The Trump interview episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience” has already garnered over 37.5 million views on YouTube alone in less than a week. Harris makes final push to close gap with male voters

The ads are part of an effort to energize male voters as Harris seeks to narrow the gender gap in support for her and for former President Donald Trump. A CNN national poll of likely voters released on Friday found Trump has the support of 51% of men compared with Harris’ 45% support among male voters. Tim Walz, are continuing their outreach to male voters with campaign events, interviews and digital media content. The Rogan interview is a continuation of Trump turning to nontraditional media outlets, including podcasts, in the weeks leading up to Election Day. Rogan also invited Vice President Kamala Harris to do an interview, but her campaign has declined. Later in the interview, Rogan seemed to foreshadow the fact that Trump’s Lee comment could get him criticized. Vice President Kamala Harris had also been in talks to do an interview with Rogan but it didn’t pan out. As the third hour of the interview approached, Trump said he realized he needed to get to a scheduled rally in Michigan, which he was late for because of the length of the Rogan interview.

It was the latest in a long tradition of presidential candidates invoking the fast-food chain. On Sunday, former President Trump reportedly served fries and handed them out at the drive-thru window of McDonald's in Feasterville, Pennsylvania, for about 15 minutes. Visitors to the drive-thru had to be screened by the Secret Service and didn't get to choose what Trump handed them, the Post reported. AdvertisementIn response, Harris' campaign has confirmed her early job at McDonald's — and questioned Trump's familiarity with the middle class. Candidates like Harris and business leaders like Jeff Bezos have often mentioned their work at McDonald's as a formative experience.

Former President Donald Trump served up french fries Sunday at a Philadelphia-area McDonald’s, oversalting spuds and peppering in some jabs at Vice President Kamala Harris. Without evidence, Trump has accused Harris of lying about the experience as a way to improve her working-class credibility. “It was a big part of her resume that she worked at McDonald’s — how tough a job it was,” Trump said at the restaurant in Feasterville, Pennsylvania. “I wouldn’t mind this job,” Trump said. She gave them one french fry for 30 reporters.”Toward the end of his appearance, Trump was informed it was Harris' 60th birthday.

Donald Trump visited a McDonald's in a key Pennsylvania county on Sunday. Kamala Harris said she once worked at a McDonald's, which is a key part of her biography. For weeks, Trump has attempted to sow doubt — without providing evidence — that Vice President Kamala Harris ever worked at McDonald's, which has become a key part of her biography. Trump senior advisor Jason Miller also cast doubt on Harris' McDonald's employment on Saturday, telling reporters that Trump was going to the restaurant "so that one candidate in this race could have actually worked at McDonald's." In the end, on Wednesday, both Harris and Fox News probably got what they wanted. But before the interview, Harris spokesman Ian Sams explained her thinking. If only a few thousand Fox viewers or traditional conservatives swapped sides, it could push some swing states in the vice president’s direction. Still, the risk for Harris is that her display in her first formal Fox interview could alienate some of those voters. It’s taken her several months to arrive at the assurance that she’d strike a strong contrast with Biden’s administration, which she unveiled in the Fox interview.

CNN —Former President Donald Trump suggested using the military to handle what he called “the enemy from within” on Election Day, saying that he isn’t worried about chaos from his supporters or foreign actors, but instead from “radical left lunatics.”“I think the bigger problem are the people from within. “No, I don’t think — not from the side that votes for Trump,” the former president said when Bartiromo asked whether he was expecting chaos on Election Day. Trump has also been laying groundwork to question the integrity of the 2024 election. He’s threatened, if he wins the White House again, prosecution and “long-term prison sentences” for election officials and political operatives, who he suggested could cheat. And he has routinely suggested he would weaponize the justice system to go after his political opponents if voters return him to the White House.

Half a dozen interviews later, her media strategy is taking shape, even if viewers in New York and Washington might not be seeing it. In recent days, Harris has granted sit-downs to local media outlets and fielded questions in unconventional forums to target crucial swing state and minority voters. Earlier this week, Harris parried tough questions from the National Association of Black Journalists and taped an appearance with Stephanie “Chiquibaby” Himonidis, a popular Spanish-language radio host and podcaster. Trump’s media strategy is looser – he appears on his favorite Fox shows, gives statements and brief interviews to beat reporters, and holds occasional press conferences. In addition to viewers watching online, Winfrey will invite 400 local voters to join her for the conversation in-person, focusing particularly on voters in battleground states as the election approaches.

Officials later confirmed to the Associated Press that some F-16s were indeed in Ukraine. AdvertisementThis means Ukraine may not use its F-16s for the frontline offensives it would prefer, according to military experts and Ukraine's top general. Peter Layton, a fellow at the Griffith Asia Institute who served in Australia's air force, said Ukraine would have to be cautious. He said its small number of aircraft and few pilots would mean Ukraine has to prioritize avoiding losses, so it can fly the F-16s as long as possible. Ukraine also faces challenges when it comes to logistics around the F-16s.

The GOP-led House Oversight Committee issued subpoenas Wednesday for three White House aides, requesting depositions to discuss President Joe Biden's cognitive state. The subpoenas, first reported by Axios, are for first lady Jill Biden's senior adviser Anthony Bernal, White House deputy chief of staff Annie Tomasini and White House senior adviser Ashley Williams. "President Biden is clearly unfit for office, yet his staff are trying to hide the truth from the American people," he added. When reached for comment, White House spokesperson Ian Sams criticized Comer and called the subpoenas a "baseless political stunt intended for him to get media attention instead of engage in legitimate oversight." The three aides were previously asked to appear before the committee as part of the Biden classified documents investigation, but the committee says the White House blocked their appearances.

"In New York today, we saw that no one is above the law," Biden campaign spokesman Michael Tyler said in a statement on Thursday evening. The Biden campaign echoed that statement on social media with a link to the Democratic incumbent's donation page. "Despite his efforts to distract, delay, and deny — justice arrived for Donald Trump all the same," Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Ca., said in a post on X. The Israeli Air Force achieved an unmatched air combat victory in the 1982 Lebanon War. The battle, known as Operation Mole Cricket 19, saw over 60 enemy aircraft eliminated without a single Israeli loss. The fourth-generation Israeli jets were also made much more lethal by the AIM-9L Sidewinder missile that could be fired from any angle. This allowed Israeli jets, with targeting assistance from UAVs, to destroy the SAMs using anti-radiation missiles. CNN —House Republicans have sent to the Senate two articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, a step that launches a trial in the Senate as GOP lawmakers seek to highlight President Joe Biden’s handling of immigration policy. House Republicans do not have the votes or concrete evidence to impeach Biden given their razor-thin majority, leaving that separate impeachment inquiry stalled. GOP arguments for impeachment and pushback from constitutional expertsWhen Johnson originally informed Schumer he would be sending the impeachment articles over to the Senate, he laid out why he believed a Mayorkas impeachment was justified. “These articles lay out a clear, compelling, and irrefutable case for Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ impeachment,” Green said in a statement provided to CNN. “I think that what the House Republicans are asserting is that Secretary Mayorkas is guilty of maladministration,” Garber said.

“Comer knows 20+ witnesses have testified that POTUS did nothing wrong. Yet, in his letter to Biden, Comer outlined the four phases of his investigation that included obtaining bank records and witness testimony that led him to seeking the president’s testimony. Various Biden family business associates have testified they have had surface level interactions with Biden, but none have said they discussed business with the president, either while he was in office or as a private citizen. “What do you think they would do if we Impeached Biden?” Comer wrote earlier this week. New York CNN —The White House is formally calling on Fox News to walk back its coverage of bribery and corruption allegations against President Joe Biden. The letter is the latest from the Biden White House, which has taken a more aggressive approach to news coverage of the president that it sees as unfair in the run-up to the November election. Earlier this month, Sams sent a letter to the White House Correspondents’ Association, protesting coverage of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report on Biden’s handling of classified material. Since Fox News has declined to take the responsible course of action and meaningfully correct the record, the White House is now moving to formally request the network do so. And, in a statement the network provided to CNN, Fox News didn’t directly address the White House’s request.

White House and Biden allies have taken aim at Hur for what they view as a gratuitous characterization of the president. White House Counsel Ed Siskel and Robert Bauer, the president’s personal attorney, were in the White House Map Room for the president’s interview with Hur, people briefed on the matter said. It was a mistake for the White House to “put him out on weakness and not strength,” one administration official said. White House officials stood by the forcefulness of the White House’s pushback to Hur’s report, saying not only did Biden take questions from reporters Thursday night, but the next day, White House counsel spokesman Ian Sams joined the press briefing. The White House has also sent a letter to the White House Correspondents’ Association taking issue with news coverage of the Hur report, the officials pointed out, while the Biden campaign has pointed to allies and legal experts questioning aspects of the report that the White House sees as problematic.

CNN —The White House is making its frustration over recent press coverage known. In a letter Tuesday to the White House Correspondents’ Association, Ian Sams, spokesperson for the White House Counsel’s Office, expressed concern over how the news media has covered Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report on President Joe Biden’s handling of classified material. Sams’ letter is yet another step White House officials have taken to push back against press narratives about the report. It’s not just the White House making such arguments though. The House of Representatives, by an extremely narrow margin, voted Tuesday to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, the first Cabinet secretary to be impeached in almost 150 years.
