President Biden's speech describing the attacks by Hamas on Israel as "sheer evil" was welcomed by Israelis on Wednesday as a powerful show of support for the country in its hour of need.
It was "the first time I heard a leader speak" since Saturday, an Israeli woman told Army Radio on Wednesday.
"We don’t have a leader here,” she said, adding that, "Israelis watched the speech and cried."
Meanwhile, Benjamin Netanyahu's government is coming under pressure for what is perceived as an inadequate response to the situation.
Hogeg spoke from a medical center where his family members were being treated for burns after their house was set on fire by Hamas militants in hard-hit Kfar Azza, near the Gaza border.
