Reid Hoffman said there's a "greater than 50% chance" he'll receive retaliation for backing Kamala Harris. Hoffman was one of the vice president's most prominent Silicon Valley business supporters. Reid Hoffman, the billionaire LinkedIn co-founder and outspoken Democrat, said he thinks it's likely that he will face retaliation from President-elect Donald Trump for supporting Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign. Despite his dislike for Trump and many of his policies, Hoffman said that some of the president-elect's deregulation efforts could broadly benefit entrepreneurs. Representatives for Hoffman and Trump did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.

E. Jean Carroll's rape lawsuit against former President Donald Trump goes to trial next week. A federal judge sealed documents related to whether billionaire Reid Hoffman funded Carroll's suit. Alina Habba, an attorney representing Trump in the lawsuit, told Insider she would oppose the decision. On April 13, Habba asked Judge Kaplan (who is not related to Carroll's lawyer) again to delay the trial and reopen the discovery process in the case. Trump's attorneys haven't yet said whether the former president will attend the trial, and Judge Kaplan isn't forcing him to.

When Swisher asked Hoffman if Thiel hears him, Hoffman said, "I don't know." When they met as sophomores at Stanford in the mid-1990s, Hoffman heard Thiel was a "libertarian wacko," while Thiel was told Hoffman was a "pinko commie," Hoffman said on his podcast "Masters of Scale." Hoffman told Swisher he will "spend as much as I possibly can" to avoid another Trump presidency, saying it would be "destructive to our society."
