Trump’s transition team includes close to 100 people, with some working at Mar-a-Lago and others at the campaign office in Palm Beach and in Washington. Andrew Harnik/Getty ImagesInside Trump’s transitionTrump’s transition effort had begun with relatively orthodox choices — including Wiles, who led Trump’s campaign, as chief of staff. Much like his defense secretary pick, Trump had also grown frustrated with his options for attorney general. The role of attorney general has long been viewed by Trump as one of, if not the, most important positions he would fill. CORRECTION: This story has been corrected to properly reflect the process by which Donald Trump considered candidates for attorney general.

Hinchliffe's Puerto Rico joke spawned the initial news cycle (and within 24 hours, a new digital ad from Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign). Related storiesThe Harris campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment. That leaves it to each campaign to try to generate their own moments, like when Trump did a photo-op at McDonald's. In both cases, they were upstaged by secondary moments that their opponents successfully latched onto, with Hinchcliffe drowning out Trump's rally and Biden spoiling Harris' rally. Evelyn Hockstein | ReutersVice President Kamala Harris on Monday dismissed the "nonsense" spouted at Donald Trump's campaign rally in New York City a day earlier, which included a racist joke by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe about Puerto Rico. The superstar singers Bad Bunny and Lopez, who are Puerto Rican, highlighted Harris' support for Puerto Rico in social media posts after Hinchliffe took a swipe at the U.S. territory. The vice president released a plan Sunday to "build an opportunity economy for Puerto Rico" by creating a task force to foster economic growth on the island. In a most epic final, certainly, among the deepest in Olympic history, Lyles won in a photo finish. CNN —British sprinter Louie Hinchliffe became the first European man to win the 100-meter title at the NCAA Championships on Friday thanks to a surging finish. “It was just a fight to the end,” Hinchliffe told reporters after the race. Hinchliffe did clock a time of 9.84 last month, but it was not deemed legal due to the wind conditions. C. Global stock markets may be coming under pressure from geopolitical tensions and sticky inflation — but one portfolio manager sees potential in several stocks. Hinchliffe oversees more than $1 billion of PineBridge's assets via its Global Focus Equity Fund . What we are trying to do is beat the benchmark by constructing our portfolio to be similar to the market from a risk perspective," Hinchliffe said. "We're not taking a view that small caps are better or worse this year than last year; we're not taking the view that growth stocks are better than value stocks. The portfolio manager noted that they "clearly led the market last year based on fantastic earnings growth by and large."

HONG KONG/NEW YORK, July 31 (Reuters) - For all the excitement whipped up in China's markets by the Politburo last week, foreign investors say policymakers' words will have to be matched by substantive action to clean up an ailing property sector before confidence recovers. "The question is what resources they will deploy, because China is still very focused on de-leveraging and preventing financial risks." Absolutely, and urgently," said Qi Wang, the chief investment officer (CIO) of MegaTrust Investment (HK), a boutique China fund manager specializing in domestic Chinese A-shares. Mark Dong, general manager of Minority Asset Management, based in Hong Kong, has reduced his exposure to the property sector. The safest bets in the sector, he said, had come down to state-owned companies such as China Resources Land (1109.HK) and Poly Property (0119.HK).

PATERSON, N.J. — When Bob Kendrick visited Hinchliffe Stadium in 2014, all he could do was hope. Kendrick, the president of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Mo., had journeyed east for a ceremony that recognized Hinchliffe as a National Historic Landmark. The stadium is one of the last of the Negro leagues ballparks still standing, but it was almost impossible to tell at the time. So had local products like Monte Irvin and Larry Doby, who followed Jackie Robinson in the first wave of integrating the American and National Leagues on their own paths to Cooperstown. Two other teams, the New York Black Yankees and the New York Cubans, called the stadium home as well.
