London CNN —Figures from across the sporting world have offered their condolences to a BBC sport commentator, after his wife and two daughters were killed by an alleged crossbow attacker, in deaths that again drew attention to the epidemic of violence against women. Carol Hunt, 61, wife of BBC horse racing commentator, John Hunt, and their daughters, Hannah Hunt, 28, and Louise Hunt, 25, died from injuries sustained in an attack in Bushey, just northwest of London, on Tuesday, according to police and Britain’s public broadcaster. BBC Sport presenter Mark Chapman said: “John Hunt is our colleague, and our friend, not just to the current 5 Live Sport team, but to all of those who have worked here with him over the past 20 years. Truly horrific.”The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) said in a statement that its thoughts are with Hunt, his family, and friends. CNN —A manhunt is underway in north London for a man suspected of being armed with a crossbow, after three women were killed Tuesday evening. Police said they were searching for a 26-year-old man, named as Kyle Clifford, in connection with the deaths, who could be in north London or the neighboring county of Hertfordshire. Police were called to a house in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on Tuesday evening, where they found three seriously injured women. All the women, who are believed to be related, later died from their injuries, according to police. British Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has said she is being kept “fully updated” by police on the ongoing manhunt.

The police said they arrived at the scene just before 7 p.m. local time on Tuesday and found three women with serious injuries. The BBC reported that the victims were the wife and two daughters of one of its horse-racing commentators. “As we’ve just reported, the three women killed in a crossbow attack in Bushey, near Watford, are Carol Hunt, the wife of the BBC commentator John Hunt, and two of their daughters,” the broadcaster wrote.
