London CNN —British Airways was hit with a technical failure for a few hours on Monday, which appeared to have caused some delays and disruption to its flights across Europe. After reports emerged on social media of flight delays, and the flag carrier’s website was down for more than an hour, a British Airways spokesperson said the airline experienced a “technical issue affecting some of our systems” that led to delays. Heathrow Airport, which is the airline’s main base in London, also said the technical issue affecting British Airways had been fixed and it was working to help the impacted British Airways passengers. “The technical issue impacting British Airways has now been resolved. A London Gatwick Airport spokesperson said British Airways “had a short term issue” but no disruption was caused.

London CNN —British Airways is working to fix a “technical issue,” according to a spokesperson for the airline on Monday, as reports emerged on social media of flight delays and IT issues with the flag carrier. “Our flights are currently operating, but are experiencing delays as our teams work to resolve a technical issue affecting some of our systems,” a British Airways spokesperson said. Heathrow Airport, which is the airline’s main base in London, said it was working with British Airways to provide updates to passengers. “We are aware of a technical issue that British Airways are investigating. All other airlines are operating as normal at Heathrow, the Heathrow Airport spokesperson added.

CrowdStrike is well-known in the cybersecurity industry, but until today, I don't think anyone was aware of its dominance as a platform on Windows. However, CrowdStrike might have evidence to suggest that this is a freak accident, so I don't think it's fair to point fingers too much. I don't think that's realistic. The airline announced on Facebook that it's offering $10,000 to passengers with minor injuries. The flight from London to Singapore was diverted to Bangkok after it dropped 178 feet in 4.6 seconds.
