It isn’t unusual for a passer-by to mistake the home of the British artist Sarah Kaye Rodden for a shop. “I have to tell them that this is my home, and then they back away sheepishly,” says Kaye Rodden, 48. Kaye Rodden bought the three-story 2,200-square-foot home nine years ago with her husband, John Rodden, 47, an executive at the film production company Studio Canal UK. Kaye Rodden, who comes from several long lines of makers — her paternal great-great-grandfather was a tanner and harness maker; her maternal grandfather was a carpenter — also wanted to set up a studio. In 2012, after working for years alongside acclaimed British designers including Thomas Heatherwick, Ilse Crawford and Faye Toogood, she began focusing on her own multidisciplinary art practice.

CNN —What if you could help nature by simply going out for a run? That’s the idea behind Rewild the Run, a 3D-printed shoe outsole that fits over regular sneakers. The hope is that by spreading seeds, shoes fitted with the outsole could help with rewilding, a form of nature restoration that enables the environment to take care of itself, with reduced human intervention. “How will these shoes distinguish between the seeds of native and non-native plant species?”Carver is skeptical about the principle of urban rewilding itself. She also shares the vision of rewilding taking place at scale and by giving nature space, and says that would be the ideal in cities such as London.

CNN —The new tallest building in Japan is here — and the gleaming skyscraper is part of an expansive “modern urban village” in central Tokyo, years in the making. That surpasses the Abeno Harukas skyscraper in Osaka, now Japan’s second tallest building at 300 meters (984 feet). The completion of the tower, announced on Monday, brings the sprawling Azabudai Hills complex one step closer to its scheduled opening in the fall. Other countries have meanwhile raced ahead, constructing ever-taller skylines — the Azabudai Hills skyscraper is still dwarfed by towers in New York, Taiwan and Dubai. At 390 meters (nearly 1,280 feet), Torch Tower will loom above Azabudai Hills when it completes in 2027.
