Including Larsen's August contribution of $1 million worth of XRP tokens, the billionaire has given more than $11.8 million to PACs supporting the Harris campaign, making him one of the crypto industry's largest individual donors this cycle. He's part of an industry that's become suddenly prominent in political fundraising, though more heavily in support of Republicans. The Trump PAC has raised about $7.5 million crypto donations since early June. The committee gave out nearly $29 million in September. They've received $1.3 million and $1 million, respectively.

VCs are lobbing cash at the presidential election and key congressional races, FEC data shows. This election cycle, investors at the top venture capital firms have plowed tens of millions of dollars into the election, both backing their favored political candidates and just cannily promoting commercial interests. (The filing deadline for Q3 data for quarterly filing entities was October 15, but this data isn't yet readily available in full online.) Business Insider selected 10 venture capital firms to focus on, taking into account fund size and cultural and industry significance. Sequoia Capital's Doug Leone is one of VC's most prolific GOP-aligned political donors, giving his almost $3.8 million to the National Republican Committee and other causes.

And that massive total doesn't include fundraising by the main pro-Trump super PAC, MAGA Inc., which will file its fundraising reports by Sunday. Adelson gave $95 million to Preserve America, a super PAC she’s almost entirely funded, during the third fundraising quarter, after previously giving the group $5 million in the prior quarter. Right for America, another pro-Trump group, raised $28 million last quarter — with multimillion-dollar checks from Andreesen, Horowitz and Perlmutter as well as Perlmutter's wife, Lara. The super PAC has spent heavily on the presidential race as well as on the Wisconsin Senate and Maine 2nd Congressional District campaigns. Harris has plenty of super PAC backup, too: Future Forward (known as FF PAC) had raised $200 million through August, while MAGA Inc. had raised $280 million.

After wrapping up her multi-day battleground state tour, Vice President Kamala Harris will attend a major fundraiser in San Francisco on Sunday to court West Coast donors, some of whom had pulled their support for President Joe Biden after his poor debate performance in June. Harris will court Bay Area donors using her deep roots in the area and the political blessing of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has represented San Francisco for nearly four decades in Congress and will join Harris at Sunday’s event, according to a Harris campaign official. In an interview with NBC's Andrea Mitchell on Wednesday, Pelosi said, "It wasn’t just, though, about the House. I thought it was very important, very important for us to make sure and that Donald Trump never becomes president after that debate. We just have to win the election.”She also said that she had not spoken with the president since he stepped aside.
