A possible suspect wearing a Halloween Michael Myers mask was seen in the area of a Harris County, Texas, home where a man was found shot to death, authorities said Friday. That investigation is still open and active, the sheriff’s office said Friday. Authorities spoke with witnesses and viewed security videos from neighboring homes and learned that a possible suspect was seen walking in the area wearing a mask of Michael Myers, the fictional murderer from the "Halloween" movie series. Two children were found unharmed in the home, the sheriff's office said. Witnesses said that someone in the Myers mask walked up to the victim while he was in his garage and started shooting, local news station KHOU reported.

Two people died and more than two dozen were treated Thursday when a chemical leaked at a Houston-area industrial plant, officials said. A hydrogen sulfide leak was reported Thursday evening at a Pemex facility in the Houston suburb of Deer Park, the city said. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said workers were working on a flange when there was a leak of the chemical. A shelter-in-place order was issued shortly after 7 p.m. local time "out of precaution," and Deer Park asked nearby residents to stay inside and close doors and windows. The facility is co-located at a Shell refinery site, according to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, which said it was aware of the incident.

OAK RIDGE NORTH, Texas (AP) — A man suspected of several robberies in southeastern Texas was fatally shot Monday night by officers with a joint task force after they saw him rob a liquor store, authorities said. The man, whose name was not immediately released, fled officers who had been monitoring him before seeing him rob the liquor store in Oak Ridge North at gunpoint, according to Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon. The officers then tried to arrest the man, but he fled on foot in the strip mall where the liquor store is located. “The officers, fearing for their safety, discharged their weapons, the suspect dies.”Ligon said a report on the shooting will be submitted to a grand jury to determine whether the officers acted appropriately. None of the officers were injured and all are on paid leave pending investigations into the shooting.

Three people were killed overnight Sunday after a gathering in a short-term rental turned deadly near Houston, Texas.
