Two former Indiana University basketball players have sued their alma mater alleging their team doctor repeatedly sexually assaulted them and their teammates and the school did nothing to stop him. Delaney names the Trustees of Indiana University as defendants in the lawsuit, alleging Title IX violations by the school for failing to protect the students. Delaney said she alerted Indiana University in a letter last month that a former basketball player had come forward with allegations of abuse at the hands of Bomba. “When Mujezinovic’s teammates saw that he was assigned to Dr. Bomba, Sr., they warned Mujezinovic to prepare for ‘the finger’,” the suit says. “When Mujezinovic declined, Dr. Bomba, Sr. informed Mujezinovic they could ‘skip’ the rectal examination for that year,” the lawsuit says.

CNN —Kamala Harris’ joyful campaign will Tuesday be hit by the blunt force of reality — a debate with Donald Trump — the most menacing political foe of modern times. The vice president transformed the 2024 election after President Joe Biden’s abject debate showing against Trump on CNN in June led him to end his reelection bid. Haris will be ‘fully prepared’But to succeed in the debate, the vice president faces three difficult tasks. The conceit, however, allowed the Trump campaign to argue she’d return to her original stance if she won power. “I believe the vice president will be fully prepared to do that.”

I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. CNN —Pakistan’s heartbreaking Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup continued as it succumbed to a dramatic six-run defeat against archrival India on Sunday following its shock loss to the USA earlier in the week. Often described as one of the greatest sporting grudge matches in the world, an India-Pakistan cricket match is always bound up in the geopolitical faultlines that separate the two nations. India narrowly defeated Pakistan. But the game turned on its head with six overs left when Jasprit Bumrah bowled Rizwan and took the momentum away from Pakistan. It set up a grandstand finish with Pakistan needing 18 runs off six balls in the last over and it ultimately fell just short.

India beat Pakistan in dramatic fashion in their T20 Cricket World Cup match in New York, despite setting their biggest rivals a target of just 120 runs at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. It was their lowest-ever run total in a men’s T20 Cricket World Cup match, which is the shorter format of the sport where each team has one innings of up to 20 overs (an over is six balls). Jasprit Bumrah led India’s fightback, taking three wickets for only 14 runs as Rohit Sharma’s team battled their way to victory. Pakistan needed 18 runs to win off the final over of the game but could only score 11 as they fell six runs short. This is the first time the USA have competed in the T20 World Cup.

In one of the biggest shocks in cricket history, the USA defeated Pakistan in the T20 Cricket World Cup in Dallas, Texas. AdvertisementThe U.S. now stand a strong chance of qualifying for the Super 8 round (another round-robin stage before the semi-finals). The scores were level after 20 overs, meaning the game was decided by a super over — a single-over shootout where the highest-scoring team are victorious. Needing 19 to win, Pakistan laboured to just 13, with Saurabh Netravalkar bowling well in a pressured situation for the USA. This defeat leaves Pakistan struggling to qualify for the Super 8 stage, with a win against India, the best T20 team in the world, likely to be needed for them to progress.

Bitcoin miners brace for impact as halving goes live

The technical event is relatively simple: Bitcoin miners get paid in bitcoin to validate transactions, and after 210,000 blocks of transactions are computed and added to the main chain, the reward given to the miners securing bitcoin is 'halved.' The aggregate market cap of the 14 U.S.-listed bitcoin miners tracked by JPMorgan analysts declined 28% over the first half of April to $14.2 billion, reaching year-to-date lows. Some have billed the 2024 bitcoin halving as a seminal moment for the mining sector. Marathon, along with other mining firms, has begun diversifying its business model into ancillary operations beyond purely bitcoin mining. Sullivan continued, "Bitcoin mining sites can only be repurposed if they meet the attributes that are required for HPC.

By Tommy Ardiansyah and Ajeng Dinar UlfianaJAKARTA (Reuters) - Indonesian presidential candidate Anies Baswedan's young supporters are borrowing elements from their favourite music genre K-pop to boost his popularity, swapping photocards and light sticks decorated with his face before the Feb. 14 poll. "It all started with a TikTok live that Anies did one day," said Hera Putri Haris, a 22-year-old Anies supporter who was carrying plastic cups and fans plastered with his image. K-pop inspired political rallies have become more common as the South Korean music genre sweeps the globe. K-pop fans rallied in Thailand's anti-government movement in 2020, while K-pop fans in the United States raised funds for the Black Lives Matter movement. Anies' campaign team did not respond to a request for comment but event organiser Muhammad Rasyid Al Kautsar said he believes the cultural phenomenon can help rally supporters.

KOLKATA, India, Oct 31 (Reuters) - Former champions Pakistan kept alive their slender chances of making the semi-finals of the 50-over World Cup with a comprehensive seven-wicket victory against Bangladesh, who were eliminated from the tournament on Tuesday. Babar Azam's men moved into fifth place after their third win in seven matches, while Bangladesh became the first team to drop out of contention. "We are trying to force things but it isn't working," Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan said after their sixth defeat in seven matches. Bradburn must have been pleased as the pace trio of Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Wasim and Haris Rauf collectively claimed eight of the 10 Bangladesh wickets in the match. "We are trying to win our remaining matches and see where we stand," Babar said of their semi-final hopes.

Pakistan coach rues lack of swing in India

KOLKATA, India, Oct 30 (Reuters) - Lack of swing in India has taken much sting out of the Pakistan pace attack in the 50-overs World Cup, head coach Grant Bradburn said ahead of Tuesday's clash against Bangladesh. "We have a great resource of fast bowling talent in Pakistan," Bradburn told reporters on Monday. "We do rely on swing, but we haven't experienced too much swing here. Pakistan's batting has not been consistent either and Bradburn said one of the top four batters must bat deep if they were to put up big totals in their remaining matches. Pakistan must win their remaining three group matches and hope other results go their way to make the last four, a situation Bradburn called far from ideal.

COLOMBO, Sept 12 (Reuters) - Pakistan are set to draft in back-ups for Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah with the pace duo looking doubtful for the remainder of the Asia Cup having sustained injuries during their Super Four stage defeat to India. Shahnawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan will come into the squad in Sri Lanka but no decision had been made yet regarding Rauf and Naseem, the Pakistan Cricket Board said in a statement. Pakistan suffered a heavy defeat against their arch-rivals in a rain-hit Super Four contest played over two days. Kohli, Rahul fire as India thump Pakistan in Asia Cup

Sept 11 (Reuters) - India beat rivals Pakistan by 228 runs after Virat Kohli passed 13,000 in one-day internationals en route to his 47th century and KL Rahul marked his return from injury with a ton in a lopsided Asia Cup Super Four clash in Colombo on Monday. India spinner Kuldeep Yadav (5-25) ripped through Pakistan's lineup following a brief rain interruption after Jasprit Bumrah removed Imam-ul-Haq and Hardik Pandya castled the dangerous Babar Azam. Kohli and Rahul saw off the threat of Pakistan's pace attack, missing Rauf due to a right flank problem, and the duo targeted the spinners to post 356-2 in 50 overs. Rahul and Kohli's unbeaten 233-run partnership for the third wicket was the highest stand in the Asia Cup. India, whose group meeting with Pakistan in Pallekele this month was abandoned due to rain, take on Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

London designer Susie Atkinson thrifted a 1960s double adjustable pendant for a local Queen-Anne style kitchen. SURABAYA, Indonesia, March 9 (Reuters) - An Indonesian court handed prison sentences to two soccer match officials on Thursday after finding them guilty of negligence over one of the world's deadliest stadium stampedes. The judges also found security officer Suko Sutrisno guilty of negligence and jailed him for one year. An investigation by Indonesia's human rights commission found the main cause of the stampede was police firing into the crowd 45 rounds of tear gas, which soccer's world governing body FIFA has banned as a crowd control measure. Both match officials' representatives said they would study the ruling before attempting next legal steps. Three police officers are also charged with the same offences and their cases will be decided at a later date.
They have now reached the knockout phase in every World Cup or European championship since 2014 and even if they have never gone past the last eight, they cannot be regarded as a surprise package anymore. "It's the best Swiss national team that ever existed," coach Murat Yakin said before their opening game, a clinical 1-0 win against Cameroon. He was also in the build-up of the third as he clipped the decisive ball into the box after Breel Embolo had levelled with his second World Cup goal. "The dual nationals have brought an extra touch of soul," former Swiss international Stephane Grichting said. Adding to the Swiss confidence is their U-17 World Cup campaign in 2009, when they beat Brazil on they way to the title.

CNN —England won the T20 World Cup Final in sensational style, defeating Pakistan by five wickets in front of more than 80,000 fans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday. As he did three years ago when England won the one-day World Cup, Stokes hit the winning runs and, with those runs, England became the first ever men’s side to hold the one day and T20 World Cup at the same time. I think the way we bowled, Adil Rashid, Sam Curran, that’s what won us the game,” Stokes said afterwards, according to the BBC. But England attacked off the final four overs and wrapped up the victory with six balls to spare.

England rallied to overpower New Zealand, edge past Sri Lanka and decimate India before seeing off Pakistan to end their opponents' hopes of winning the T20 World Cup for a second time and of repeating their victory over England at the MCG in the 1992 50-over final. Babar's exit came at the start of the 12th over with Pakistan 84-2 and they went on lose six wickets for 47 runs. England will remain in Australia to play a three-match one-day international series against Australia, beginning on Thursday at Adelaide before fixtures at the SCG on Saturday and MCG on November 22.

CNN Business —Microsoft posted a double-digit profit decline in the three-month period ending in September as the company confronted a slowdown in the personal computing industry and a broader economic downturn. Microsoft (MSFT)’s revenue, meanwhile, grew a modest 11% to $50.1 billion. Other parts of Microsoft’s business declined. Microsoft said revenue from its Windows OEM operations fell 15% from the year prior, which comes as demand for personal computers has fallen sharply on the heels of a pandemic-fueled boom.
