New York CNN —Champion, the more than century-old sportswear brand, has a new owner. Hanesbrands announced Wednesday that it will sell Champion to Authentic Brands Group in a deal worth up to $1.5 billion with performance incentives. Many consumers have pulled back on discretionary clothing, a trend that has hurt Champion’s rivals such as Nike and Under Armour. Champion had made an exclusive C-9 Champion line for Target for around 15 years, but the contract expired in early 2020 as Target focused more on its own private-label brands. The company then started selling the C-9 line on Amazon.

Read previewThe Instagram photos from Mark Zuckerberg's 40th birthday party left me with many questions. AdvertisementIn two of the photos, he's wearing a slightly different outfit: the gold chain is missing, and his T-shirt is plain black. AdvertisementOr, another option, which is my theory: He didn't choose the shirt; the shirt was gifted to him during the party. My theory is that this wasn't just her regular casual party attire — she was dressing up in a typical Mark outfit as a joke, chain and all. But I feel confident in my assessment that Zuckberg's outfit was gifted to him as a joke during his party.

Evva Hanes, a North Carolina farm woman who took a centuries-old Moravian cookie tradition that she had learned by watching her mother bake on a wood-fired stove and turned it into a family business, one that now ships out millions of fragile, crispy Moravian cookies every year, died on June 22 at her home in Clemmons, N.C. She was 90. The cause was complications of brain cancer, said her grandson Jedidiah Hanes Templin, who is president of the Moravian Sugar Crisp Company, better known as Mrs. Hanes’ Hand-Made Moravian Cookies. Before the American Revolutionary War, some left for Pennsylvania, taking with them a recipe for a spice-heavy ginger cookie called Lebkuchen. They kept moving, and in the mid-1700s began a religious community on a large tract of land in North Carolina that would become the city of Winston-Salem. The Southern food scholar John Egerton wrote that the North Carolina Moravians, like the Pennsylvania Dutch — whom he called “their theological and gastronomical kin” — have maintained a strong baking tradition that is hundreds of years old.

The woman told officers she couldn’t breathe for about five seconds, according to the affidavit. Walmart is rolling out its latest version of virtual try-on, which allows shoppers to upload an image of themselves and see how items would look. As some shoppers reduce their spending on clothes, Walmart is rolling out a new tool that it hopes will nudge them toward clicking the "buy" button. Starting this week, customers can use a virtual try-on tool to see how a shirt or another clothing item would look on their own bodies. It is the latest feature the company has added to its website because of the acquisition of Zeekit, a virtual fitting room startup. The newest feature for Walmart, "Be Your Own Model," uses algorithms and machine learning technology that was originally used to develop more accurate topographic maps.
