TOPSHOT - Smoke billows from the site of an Israeli airstrike on Zibqin in southern Lebanon on June 12, 2024. Israel and Hezbollah, which controls much of Lebanon, have been trading fire since October in parallel with the Jewish nation's war campaign against Palestinian militant group Hamas in the Gaza Strip. In an all-out war, Hezbollah will be destroyed and Lebanon will be severely hit." "I remind you that, according to the United Nations, there is no territorial dispute — no territorial dispute — between Lebanon and Israel," Israeli government spokesman David Mencer said during a Tuesday press briefing. Security concerns have driven thousands of Lebanese and Israeli civilians to flee their border-facing settlements.

Beirut CNN —Israel warned Hezbollah on Tuesday of the prospect of “all-out war” after the Lebanese militant group published a 9-minute video, purportedly taken by a drone, showing Israeli military and civilian locations in several Israeli cities. “In an all-out war, Hezbollah will be destroyed, and Lebanon severely beaten,” he added. Those locations include a number of sensitive areas, including at least two military installations: a base in northern Haifa and the port of Haifa. The drone also flew over the oil tanks that sit north of Haifa, the Haifa airport and several residential areas. Hezbollah has said in the past that it will only stop firing on Israel if Israel stops the war in Gaza.

Indian billionaire Gautam Adani speaks during an inauguration ceremony after the Adani Group completed the purchase of Haifa Port earlier in January 2023, in Haifa port, Israel January 31, 2023. Adani Group said the 'misleading reports' had no substantial impact on the group's business performance, and said the group remained in compliance with the law. Nonprofit media organisation OCCRP reported on Thursday that millions of dollars were invested in publicly traded Adani Group stocks through funds in Mauritius, obscuring the involvement of alleged business partners of India's Adani family. The Adani Group, which is controlled by billionaire Gautam Adani, said it categorically rejected what it called recycled allegations in the OCCRP report "in their entirety". Shares in Adani Group companies dipped on Thursday amid renewed corporate governance concerns.

HAIFA, Israel July 3 (Reuters) - Demonstrators briefly shut off access to a major Israeli seaport on Monday ahead of a planned mass convergence on the country's main airport, as a half-year-long crisis over the government's judicial overhaul again builds up steam. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had doused some of the protests during compromise talks with the opposition but they proved fruitless. People take part in a demonstration against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his nationalist coalition government's judicial overhaul, in Tel Aviv, Israel July 1, 2023. REUTERS/Nir Elias/File PhotoProtest leaders called for a similar shut-down of Ben Gurion Airport, Israel's main international gateway, in the afternoon. Washington has urged Netanyahu to seek broad consensus rather than rapidly push through unilateral changes it said could undermine Israeli democracy.

JERUSALEM, March 16 (Reuters) - Jerusalem woke on Thursday to the sight of a long red line painted by protesters along roads leading to Israel's Supreme Court, hours after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected a compromise deal for his government's planned judicial overhaul. Drone footage showed a small group of people in protective suits spraying a wide red stripe along mostly deserted roads leading from a police and magistrate's compound up to the Supreme Court in central Jerusalem. A slogan stencilled in red onto the road in Hebrew, Arabic and English by the side of the road read: "Drawing the line." The hard-right government's drive to limit Supreme Court powers while increasing its own power in selecting judges has caused alarm in Israel and abroad about the country's democratic checks and balances as protests have swelled for weeks. His nationalist-religious coalition says the Supreme Court too often overreaches and intervenes in political matters it has no mandate to rule on.
Adani Group said last week it was considering independent evaluation of issues relating to legal compliance, related party transactions and internal controls following the Hindenburg report. Grant Thornton has been hired to conduct independent audits of some Adani Group companies, said the sources, declining to be named as the appointment is confidential. One of the sources added that Grant Thornton would look at whether related-party transactions at the Adani Group complied with corporate governance standards. Grant Thornton and Adani Group did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In its rebuttal, Adani had said "all related party transactions are at arm's length, properly disclosed and reviewed/audited by statutory independent auditors."

On Wednesday, a $2.5 billion sale of shares by one of its companies Adani Enterprises ADEL.NS was called off. Adani Group and the stock market regulator the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) did not respond to a request for comment. Cracking the code of how Hindenburg did the trade could lead to more short sellers taking positions against Indian companies, which have been rare, analysts said. But several bankers familiar with trading in Indian securities said the more profitable piece of the short seller’s bet would likely lie in the derivative trades it had placed.
Spokespeople for SEBI and Adani Group did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Among several allegations, Hindenburg accused Adani Group last week of using offshore tax havens and stock manipulation. On Tuesday, Adani Group mustered support from investors for a $2.5 billion share sale for Adani Enterprises, in what some saw as a stamp of investor confidence at a time of crisis. "The kind of fall that we are seeing in Adani stocks is scary," said Avinash Gorakshakar, head of research at Mumbai-based Profitmart Securities. After losing $86 billion in recent days, the seven listed Adani Group entities now have a combined market capitalisation of about $131 billion. LIC owned a 4.23% stake in Adani Enterprises as of end-December and more than 9% in Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone. Siddhartha Mohanty, one of LIC's managing directors, said in interviews on Monday that the insurer was engaging with the Adani Group but was positive on its investments.
Before the critical report by U.S. short-seller Hindenburg, Adani had ranked third. The report by Hindenburg Research last week alleged improper use by the Adani Group of offshore tax havens and stock manipulation. Adani Power (ADAN.NS) fell 5%, while Adani Total Gas (ADAG.NS) slumped 10%, down by its daily price limit. Headaches for the Adani Group are expected to continue for some time. Hindenburg said in its report it had shorted U.S.-bonds and non-India traded derivatives of the Adani Group.

REUTERS/Amir CohenBENGALURU, Feb 1 (Reuters) - India's Gautam Adani lost his title of Asia's richest person on Wednesday as a rout in his conglomerate's stocks deepened to $74 billion after a short-seller report. The Adani Group has denied the allegations, calling them baseless and saying it has always made necessary regulatory disclosures. Before the Hindenburg report, Adani had ranked 3rd. Adani Power (ADAN.NS) fell 5%, while Adani Total Gas (ADAG.NS) slumped 10%, down by its daily price limit.

Spokespeople for Adani Group and SEBI did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The share plunge was sparked by a report by Hindenburg Research last week which alleged improper use by the Adani Group of offshore tax havens and stock manipulation. The source told Reuters the Indian market regulator is also looking into any possible price manipulation of Adani group stocks, as well as examining possible irregularities in the $2.5 billion share sale of the flagship firm Adani Enterprises (ADEL.NS), which concluded on Tuesday. On Wednesday, a day after the share sale closed, Adani Enterprises (ADEL.NS) plunged 28%, bringing its losses since the Hindenburg report to more than $18 billion.
On Tuesday, the Adani group appeared to have fought back the attack by the New York-based short-seller Hindenburg and rallied investors behind the $2.5 billion share issue of flagship firm Adani Enterprises (ADEL.NS). It was a rare defeat for a man who has seemed unstoppable in recent years. In recent years, the $220 billion Adani Group empire has attracted foreign investment - France's TotalEnergies (TTEF.PA), for example, partnered with Adani last year to develop the world's biggest green hydrogen ecosystem. On Wednesday, Adani said his company felt it wasn't "morally correct" to proceed with the share sale following the volatility in the market. But he said in a statement to the exchange the company was financial stable and that the withdrawal of the share issue will not impact its future plans.

Adani spoke at a ceremony in Haifa welcoming Adani Ports (APSE.NS) and local chemicals and logistics group Gadot - the partners who purchased the port for 4 billion shekels ($1.15 billion). Adani joins China's Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG), which opened in 2021 new piers across the bay in Haifa. "We are talking to our Arab neighbours, after the historical Abraham Accords, about connecting the rail links of Saudi Arabia through Jordan to Haifa port," Netanyahu said.
