REUTERS/Cheney OrrMay 31 (Reuters) - U.S. health and advocacy groups have declared June 2 as National Gun Violence Awareness Day.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, as of May 31 over 17,000 people in the U.S. had died in 2023 as a result of guns, including by suicide.
Jan. 23 - Just two days later, seven farm workers were shot dead, again in California, in Half Moon Bay.
April 18 - Four people were found shot dead in rural Maine and three motorists were wounded by gunfire in what police said were related incidents.
May 6 - A gunman shot dead eight people, including children, in a shopping mall in Allen, Texas after opening fire with an AR-15 style rifle.
