When Sundar Pichai, Google’s chief executive, introduced a generative artificial intelligence feature for the company’s search engine last month, he and his colleagues demonstrated the new capability with six text-based queries that the public could try out. The questions included “how do you clean a fabric sofa” and “what should I use to get a coffee stain out of my carpet.” These were intended to highlight how Google’s new feature, A.I. Overviews, could generate full and useful information summaries above traditional search results. But by Friday, only one of the six queries still yielded an A.I. Users loudly complained on social media about the mistakes, in many cases outright making fun of Google.

The Napiers’ businesses get the most attention, but everyone benefits, says Caroline Burks, executive director of Laurel Main Street. “Yes, most people who come here are coming to the Mercantile, Scotsman, Scent Library,” she says. “But all ships rise at high tide. Tourists are eating at our restaurants, visiting our shops. The show has been great about highlighting what’s going on downtown and what else is here."

CNN —Here’s a story of an old TV house that has been redone inside like yesterday. “The Brady Bunch” house has hit the market for any fan of groovy ’70s pop culture, but it’ll take much more than a hunch to get your hands on it. The Los Angeles home, made famous by exterior shots on the blended-family sitcom, is going for $5.5 million. The purchase led to a new series, called “A Very Brady Renovation,” featuring the actors who played the kids and HGTV’s remodeling hosts. The home’s listing says it was built in 1959 and is the second-most-photographed in the country after the White House.
The new service, announced by CEO David Zaslav at a press event Wednesday, will launch May 23 and give consumers access to a large library of programming across Warner Bros. Discovery’s sprawling portfolio: Warner Bros., HBO, HGTV, Food Network, Cartoon Network, TLC and others. The ad-free version will cost $15.99, the price of the company’s existing HBO Max service. For Drew and Jonathan Scott, the twins better known as HGTV’s “Property Brothers,” real estate began as a side hustle. Drew ran up his credit cards while seeking work as an actor; Jonathan declared bankruptcy while working as a magician. Today, Scott Brothers Global is an entertainment and lifestyle empire, with branded lines of furniture, mattresses, rugs and other home goods available at Macy’s, Wayfair, Home Depot and elsewhere. Their production company is responsible for 15 unscripted series and TV specials, on subjects including real estate, food and cars, that air in over 160 countries. The eighth season of “Brother vs. Brother,” in which they compete to see who can renovate and sell a home at a bigger profit, starts Jan. 11 on HGTV and Discovery+.
