People always ask me why I dislike parabolic moves. In other words, parabolic moves force you to be a trader. I will fight no one who wants to buy Palantir because I sense that one will be the last name to go down. But parabolic moves are intoxicating. If we just had the 10-year bond move to 5%, I wouldn't even bother addressing the hidden dangers behind parabolic moves.

Traditionally Republicans have been more significant friends of the oil and gas industry. Increasing domestic oil production would theoretically achieve several goals for the new administration: increase domestic economic activity and employment, increase domestic energy security, and lower oil and gas prices. Interestingly, oil and gas production in the United States right now, the world's largest producer, has never been higher, and oil and gas prices, while well above pre-COVID levels, have stabilized. The incoming Trump administration will likely reduce federal regulations on drilling, pipeline development, and environmental protections that limit the expansion of oil and gas projects. This infrastructure investment benefits the oil services industry by enabling more accessible transport and new development projects, which Biden canceled.

While the audio was out, Trump walked around the stage, occasionally talking with technical staff and rally attendees nearby. During the roughly 17 minutes there was no audio at the Trump rally in Detroit, there was a sign saying, "Technical difficulties. It’s bizarre and raises more and more concerns for voters,” said a Harris campaign adviser after the Pennsylvania rally. After the audio failure Friday night, Trump’s Detroit rally quickly turned into a standard event for the former president. Much of the event focused on illegal immigration, a typical focus of Trump’s campaign, and highlighted Detroit dignitaries like boxer Tommy "The Hitman" Hearns and rapper Trick Trick.

At Starbucks, Niccol inherits a company that under previous leadership consistently disappointed investors with weakening sales, including back-to-back periods of negative same-store sales growth this year. Operations Upon taking over Chipotle, Niccol's focus was on improving operations after the rise of digital orders complicated execution and increased wait times. The addition of shelves alone accelerated the use of Chipotle's second "make line," where digital orders are prepared in the back of the store. To rebuild consumer trust at Chipotle, Chipotle launched the "Behind the Foil" campaign to showcase transparency in food preparation. His marketing approach "brought new news in a positive way toward Chipotle," Silberman said.

Just ignore the word ‘tariff’ — it’s a tax
  + stars: | 2024-10-16 | by ( Allison Morrow | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +6 min
Especially when you hear words like “tariffs.”But, given the economy’s central importance in the 2024 race, it’s worth hammering on an Econ 101 fact: Tariffs are a tax on Americans. Very simply: When the US government decides to put a tariff (read: tax) on, say, Chinese goods, the actual money going to the US Treasury comes from the American company doing the importing. “To me, the most beautiful word in the dictionary is tariff,” Trump said at one point. But it’s important to judge Trump’s first-term trade policies and the Biden-Harris approach against context of the unprecedented tariff wave Trump is planning if he gets to Round Two. Bottom line: Tariffs might be a beautiful word to Trump’s ear, but he’s telling a fictional story about what they do in practice.
