The record gold rush may intensify into year-end. According to NewEdge Wealth's Ben Emons, the final month of the year typically creates a bigger appetite for the yellow metal. We get a recession maybe, maybe not," said Emons. "At the same time, gold rallies when there's this risk-on feel in the markets, and that's really when real rates and interest rates are declining. In a note to clients this week, Emons wrote that months for both gold and stocks are a "rare combo."

With CNBC's Melissa Lee and the Fast Money traders, Karen Finerman, Tim Seymour, Guy Adami and Dan Nathan.
Potential government action against Chinese social media giant TikTok could result in backlash that damages U.S. companies, according to traders and guests on CNBC's " Fast Money ." TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew testified before Congress on Thursday, taking heat from both sides of the aisle. Shortly before the TikTok hearing, a China Ministry of Commerce spokesperson said the country would "resolutely oppose" a forced sale, the Associated Press reported. But the companies in the crosshairs are clearly names like Starbucks , McDonald's , and Apple 's at the top of that list. As you watch this, you see there is a huge concern about the addictive aspects of short format video and social media.

Those worries eased Tuesday following comments from Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen saying the government will step in if needed to guard the banking sector against further crises. Regional bank stocks surged, and all three of the major indexes notched their second consecutive day of gains. Regardless, "Fast Money" traders were skeptical of the rally, noting the Fed will have to navigate battling higher inflation against a weaker economic outlook. The S & P 500 seems to be trading as if the shakeup in the banking sector "never happened," said Guy Adami of Private Advisor Group. "Because I will tell you, as much as you think these bank problems are over, I don't necessarily think they are."
