It will be the sixth installment of the "Scary Movie" franchise. Advertisement"Scary Movie" is back, and fans want to know which films it will parody and if the original cast will return. Marlon and Shawn Wayans created the "Scary Movie" franchise in the late 1990s, and their brother, Keenen Wayans, directed it. The two stars appeared in every "Scary Movie" aside from 2013's "Scary Movie 5." If their doing a scary movie reboot.. what big horror movie/movies came out in the last decade that they could parody??

AdvertisementDespite all the doom and gloom in Hollywood, there's optimism coming from a surprising place: indie films. "Longlegs" barely promoted its biggest star, Nicolas Cage, and is the year's biggest indie film, grossing over $100 million worldwide. AdvertisementThe case for hope for indie filmsRecently, there's been a spree of pieces predicting the death of indie films. Brands like Procter & Gamble and Neutrogena are taking a bigger role in film financing, too, providing another source of hope for indie films. Indie films can also be a bargain to rent or buy on streaming compared to big studio films.

TV shows face a cutthroat new era

To hear agents, lawyers, and producers tell it, the Hollywood they're going back to is more risk-averse than ever. Think of the "Suits LA" spinoff of the USA Networks show that was popularized by Netflix, and shows with big stars attached to them. Even big stars are getting slightedThere's an overall feeling that Hollywood has become too risk-averse. But in the meantime, the dearth of shows being ordered will take its toll on Hollywood. "There's just some people who are not going to be able to survive this dark period," a second lawyer said.

As Nolan writes in “The Hammer,” his lively account of the current landscape of American labor organizing, “It was reminiscent of Dr. Evil in ‘Austin Powers’ demanding as his ransom request for the entire world, ‘One million dollars!’”Nolan’s book joins the ranks of Steven Greenhouse’s “Beaten Down, Worked Up” and Jane McAlevey’s “A Collective Bargain” in making a rousing case for a robust labor movement. “The Hammer” aims to show that unions are the best way to combat economic inequality, give disenfranchised people genuine political power and counter the allure of the far right among the working class. What would such an announcement look like? “Perhaps every worker will emerge from the office and fire guns in the air,” Nolan muses, “until the smoke wafts over A.F.L.-C.I.O.

The acquisition allows Synopsys to expand the industries it targets. Photo: David Paul Morris/Bloomberg NewsSynopsys agreed to acquire Ansys for $35 billion of cash and stock in a deal that would expand the company’s reach in simulation software for designers of microchips, cars and airplanes. Synopsys is one of two big players, along with Cadence, in the software that chip designers use to lay out circuitry and test it prior to manufacturing. As chip-making advances and designers start to stack silicon wafers on top of each other, physics simulations like those Ansys provides have become increasingly important.

Biden sought to kickstart SAF production with a $1.25 per gallon production tax credit in the IRA. To be eligible for the credit, SAF producers must demonstrate their fuel is 50% lower in emissions than conventional jet fuel. The DOE spokesperson confirmed that ethanol producers must cut emissions of they want a long-term role in SAF production. Still, ethanol producers need carbon pipelines because many ethanol plants are not near geologically appropriate underground storage sites. Other options for reducing ethanol's carbon intensity include using renewable energy at ethanol plants, or climate-friendly farming practices for corn.

Israel's southern coastal city of Ashkelon, which has a small port well in range of Hamas rockets, is not allowing ships to enter, shipping sources said. While the main Israeli ports of Ashdod further up the coast and Haifa in the north, remain open, shipping and maritime security companies are reviewing their operations for Israel, industry sources said. "Israeli ports are deemed to be at heightened risk," said Noah Trowbridge, with British maritime risk advisory and security company Dryad Global. "Since Gaza has a coastline, direct threats to shipping inside Israeli waters cannot be ruled out," BRS said. This compared with a premium of 0.0125% earlier this year, insurance sources said.
