Registered dietitians say that communal eating can help combat the negative effects of solo eating. Whereas, eating in a stressed or tense state, like while looking over work emails, can cause us to digest food improperly and overeat. Baum suggests initiating virtual meal dates with family or friends, potlucks, or neighborhood meals to mitigate our lonely eating time. AdvertisementBaum added that the simple act of being more social can lead to more opportunities for communal eating. For example, joining clubs or activities often leads to people eating food together afterward.

Given a second chance to resuscitate his young career, Bryce Young produced something equally as rare during Week 9 of the NFL season — a victory for the Carolina Panthers. 1 overall pick of the 2023 NFL draft, who was benched earlier this season after just 18 career starts, led Carolina on a game-winning drive to beat New Orleans 23-22. After the Panthers took over with 3:26 left in the fourth quarter trailing 22-17, Young threw a pair of incompletions before he found Xavier Legette for 26 yards. On the next play, Young threw the ball high downfield, inducing a pass interference penalty that moved the ball 16 yards from the end zone. Less common is the benched starter who returns to earn full favor within an organization that had lost enough confidence to initially sit him.

And it could bring the devastating war in Gaza closer to an end, experts say – if Israel and its allies can seize the opportunity. Before the war, power in Hamas was decentralized – with Gaza political chief Sinwar just one of many leaders, Chorev said. Shira Efron, a senior director of policy research at the Diane and Guilford Glazer Foundation said Sinwar’s killing gives Netanyahu the chance to claim a victory. Sinwar’s killing could also pave the way for a hostage and ceasefire agreement, since he was believed to be one of the main blockers of a deal. Southern Glazer’s, based in Miami and operating in 44 US states, is the largest wine and spirits distributor in the United States. Abandoned antitrust law from 1936The FTC lawsuit, previously reported by Politico, could come in the next few weeks and would rely on the Robinson-Patman Act of 1936, the source said. That Depression-era law prohibits suppliers from providing deeper discounts to large chains than to smaller stores. At the time, the antitrust law was aimed at helping smaller grocers survive when A&P and other chains dominated with lower prices. However, a person familiar with the matter said Southern Glazer’s discounts are available to all retailers where permitted by state law.

Lina Khan, chair of the Federal Trade Commission, speaks during the 2024 CNBC CEO Council Summit in Washington, D.C. on June 4, 2024. The Federal Trade Commission is preparing an antitrust lawsuit against the largest U.S. alcohol distributor, Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits, two sources familiar with the matter told CNBC. But one source said the commission is likely to allege that Southern Glazer's has been providing "secret kickbacks" to large retail customers and violating the 1936 Robinson-Patman Act. Florida-based Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits distributes alcohol for over 7,000 brands in 44 states. Under the FTC's interpretation, the Robinson-Patman Act is not a wholesale ban on price discrimination and could allow volume discounts.

‘Babes’ Review: Adulting, With Babies
  + stars: | 2024-05-16 | by ( Alissa Wilkinson | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +1 min
Alas: That’s what happened with “Babes.” The elements that promised joy were all there, starting with two very funny comic talents in Ilana Glazer and Michelle Buteau. There’s a screenplay by Glazer and Josh Rabinowitz, who was a producer on “Broad City,” the kooky, beloved show in which Glazer co-starred. But sometimes a pile of good ingredients doesn’t make something delicious, and I guess that’s what happened here. The marketing for “Babes” suggests something akin to “Bridesmaids,” the runaway 2011 hit that reminded Hollywood that raunchy comedies starring women can be hilarious and profitable. Dawn and Marty’s second baby is born on Thanksgiving Day, and on the way home from the hospital Eden meets Claude (Stephan James) on the subway.

But the writer-director's latest film, "Civil War," isn't about to spoon-feed its message to audiences, either. He wants "Civil War" to make the viewer think, question, and, most importantly, feel. There's been plenty of conversation around how to interpret the message of "Civil War," but you've also been a bit misinterpreted lately. For example, one of the journalists in "Civil War" says, "Oh no, it's like the race to Berlin." She's having an internal state of civil war, which then goes into its own state of collapse.

More than 150 Jewish actors, filmmakers and other artists signed an open letter that was published on Friday in defense of remarks about Jewishness and the war in Gaza that the director Jonathan Glazer made in his Oscars acceptance speech for “The Zone of Interest,” his film about the Holocaust. Glazer’s speech has become one of the most hotly debated in Oscars history, drawing an open letter of strong denunciation from other Jewish film professionals last month and now one of support. “Whether the victims of October the 7th in Israel or the ongoing attack on Gaza, all the victims of this dehumanization, how do we resist?”The new letter expresses support for Glazer. “In his speech, Glazer asked how we can resist the dehumanization that has led to mass atrocities throughout history,” it says. “For such a statement to be taken as an affront only underscores its urgency.”

Please pray for them.”The comedian continued the joke: “So that night I go to pray, and my prayers are — complicated. Please.” Youssef continued, “And please free the hostages, all the hostages, please,” which also elicited applause. Youssef, though, has been undeterred, using his comedy for months to bring attention to the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

New York CNN —On St. Patrick’s Day, throwing back an Irish whiskey might taste different than it used to. Flavored whiskey is a $1.5 billion category and accounts for 20% of all US whiskey sales. In the past few years, flavored whiskey sales have outpaced unflavored whiskey, according to Southern Glazer’s distributors. But with younger drinkers gravitating toward punchier flavors, Irish brands “have to be much more flexible than their historical beliefs have been,” he told CNN. Flavors are “a good way to get them into the brand and into the whiskey category, and certainly into Irish whiskey,” Basford said.
