A new North Carolina neighborhood will require residents to fly the US flag.
Developer Brock Fankhauser said the community isn't aligned with a political party, local media reported.
Homeowners in the new 1776 Gastonia neighborhood, named after its affinity for the country's founding and its locale in Gastonia, North Carolina, will be required to display the American flag in front of their property.
"We're handling the American flag like an architectural element," Fankhauser said, per WCNC.
The movement is not aligned with any political party, Fankhauser said.
