CNN —Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón “strongly supports” Erik and Lyle Menendez’s bid for clemency and has written letters on behalf of each brother to California Gov. The district attorney adds that his office has communicated with several family members of Kitty and Jose Menendez and all family members except one, Kitty Menendez’s brother, support commutation. CNN has reached out to the brothers’ attorney, Mark Geragos, to confirm a formal clemency request has been sent to the governor’s office. “I strongly support clemency for Erik and Lyle Menendez,” Gascón said in a statement Wednesday. Under California law, the brothers would be immediately eligible for parole because they were 26 or younger when they committed their crimes.

CNN —An actor who has appeared in film and TV projects like “Rebel Moon” and “How I Met Your Mother” has been arrested and charged with stabbing his estranged girlfriend multiple times. He is accused of stabbing his estranged girlfriend on May 23 at her home in the Sunland neighborhood of Los Angeles. “My thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the victim in this horrific incident,” District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement. SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California’s governor blocked the parole of Charles Manson follower Patricia Krenwinkel on Friday, more than five decades after she scrawled “Helter Skelter” on a wall using the blood of one of their victims. Gavin Newsom said Krenwinkel, now 74, is still too much of a public safety risk to be freed. Newsom has previously rejected parole recommendations for other followers of Manson, who died in prison in 2017. She forced the other women in the cult to obey Mr. Manson, and prevented them from escaping when they tried to leave,” he said. “We all come from homes with problems and didn’t decide to go out and brutally kill seven strangers,” Tate told parole officials.

LOS ANGELES — A woman who accused comedians Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears of coercing her and a brother into recording sexually explicit skits when they were children filed a request Tuesday to dismiss the claim. The woman, identified in the original claim as Jane Doe, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Six days after the lawsuit was filed, Haddish posted a message on Instagram expressing regret for her role in one of the comedy pieces. The lawsuit alleged that the skit involved Haddish's teaching Jane Doe how to mimic fellatio on a sub sandwich. His mother repeatedly asked Spears and Haddish about “what was filmed that made her son cry,” the suit alleged.
