Recent graduates told BI they have sent hundreds of job applications with little response. Some are choosing to pursue a "panic master's" degree to delay their job search. AdvertisementA computer science degree has become an increasingly popular choice for students seeking a six-figure job in Big Tech out of college. According to data from PayScale published last year, employees with a master of science degree make an average base salary of $112,000, compared to $72,000 for those with a bachelor's degree in computer science. "It just might not be a cushy tech job that all of us have been raised to think about."

More universities are offering degrees in artificial intelligence, so BI rounded them up. Other institutes are offering graduate degrees in AI or degrees with AI specializations. As more colleges introduce an AI major, it means the computer science degree, long viewed as a pipeline into Big Tech, has some more competition. Stanford University's symbolic systems degree and Carnegie Mellon's computer science degree also offer AI concentrations. Alabama is one of few states without a state lottery, after lawmakers in 1999 rejected a proposal to allow one. The gambling bill, now backed by Republican Gov. Supporters pitched the bill as a means to crack down on small electronic gambling machines that have cropped up in convenience stores and small gambling halls. The controversial bill to enact absentee ballot restrictions would make it a misdemeanor to deliver someone else's absentee completed ballot or distribute an absentee ballot application prefilled with someone else's name. Supporters say the change is needed to combat voter fraud, but opponents say it would discourage voting by absentee ballot.
